Comments Thread For: Klitschko: This Is The Right Time and Foe For U.S. Return

By Jake Donovan - A lot has happened since the last time Wladimir Klitschko played Madison Square Garden – and anywhere else in the United States. Our economy nearly crashed before slowly bouncing back. Barack ***** was still on the campaign trail seeking election for his first term in the White House.

On the boxing front, Floyd Mayweather announced his retirement, and then his return, which was followed by his confirmation as the best fighter in the world and the most lucrative athlete in the sport. Manny Pacquiao saw his career soar to new heights, fall to a crippling low, rebuild and return as the 1a to Mayweather’s number one.

In his own life, Klitschko met a girl – a famous one, at that (superstar actress/activist Hayden Panettiere), fell in love, endured a break-up, followed by a rekindled relationship. The two are now engaged and welcomed into the world the birth of their daughter, their first child together.

One thing hasn’t changed since Klitschko’s last fight on U.S. soil: his stranglehold on the heavyweight division. The hulking Ukraine long ago established his place as the best heavyweight in the world, later confirmed by claiming the vacant World lineal championship. [Click Here To Read More]

Thought this fight happened last month? Well either way we've already seen this fight 20 times before. Klitchko UJ12 (Unanimous Jab) a fighter we never heard of that has zero chance of winning.

He's already the greatest champion now in my book. That much is basically indisputable imo.

However the right opponent is BS.

Fury is his best opponent now and Wilder is a unification fight.

            Those are the right fights!

I know this is a warm up fight for him as Wilder didn't want to fight yet..

            But why not Fury?

I hope it's not because of this 3 fight deal with HBO cause then Fury would either have to travel or wait. No way should he miss out now, that'd be a disgrace!

According to Boxrec, Fury is #3. But strangely Fury never fought any of the other top 10 opponents. Currently the other 8 are: Povetkin, Wilder, Glazkov, Pulev, Thompson, Tarver, Jennings, Stiverne.
Klichko on the other hand fought and beat Povetkin, Pulev and Thompson. And he is scheduled to fight another top-tenner - Jennings. Don't you think that Fury should prove himself before getting that title shot?

At least Wilder beat Stiverne - belt holder and top 10 opponent.

HA, yeah and that's the ONLY one at that! After a career of fighting the worst comp of all of them put together!

Fury's resume is heaps better than bloody Wilder's, surely that can't be denied!

And he's definitely the better boxer visually.

Even if you are right, still, wouldn't it be fitting at least beat top 5 opponent - Povetkin, Pulev or Glazkov. With such win Fury's claim to the title shot would be hard to deny. But those are all serious fighters - there is a possibility to lose. Maybe this is the reason he is not fighting them? It does not look all that dissimilar to what Khan is doing - fighting soft opponents and trying to talk his way to the Mayweather shot.
