Comments Thread For: Stevenson's Promoter Ready For Kovalev Purse Bid

So now that WBC light heavyweight titlist Adonis Stevenson has gotten Sakio Bika out of the way - what's next?

According to his promoter, Yvon Michel of GYM, they will now move forward to make a bout with Sergey Kovalev - who in addition to owning the IBF, WBA and WBO belts - is also the WBC mandatory after stopping Jean Pascal in eight rounds back on March 21st in Montreal. The WBC has called for an April 17th purse bid between the two parties.

"We are ready to go to Mexico City for the purse bid. We were not out there at the (WBC) convention when Kathy Duva, Main Events...went there to request to have the winner of Kovalev-Pascal be the mandatory contender for Stevenson and requesting at the same time a split of 50-50 be required if we ever had to go to a purse bid," Michel told krikya360.com.

I'm more optimistic than ever that this fight will happen. But I wish Duva would make a public statement and say they're also willing to fight on PBC if GYM wins the purse bid.

Nobody in their right mind should want to see this fight on pbc. Commercials, horrible commentary and bad production.

I hope the fight gets made this time but i'm not holding my breathe. Stevenson and his people have found many ways to sabotage this fight already

Honestly...why do people care who promotes it, and what network it's on? As long as they fight...isn't that enough? Anyway, there's no way that Duva wins the purse bid. So either Kovalev goes to fight on the PBC series for a fight, or he backs out.

              Then, what will "fans" say?

They say this knowing DAMN well there isn't a chance in an icy hell that they lose this purse bid. What will ME do when they lose?
