British superstar Amir Khan (30-3, 19KOs) is still on course to return at the end of May, but indicates to krikya360.com that Chris Algieri (20-1-1, 8KOs) has not been finalized as the opponent.

Khan released a video several days ago where he named Algieri as the likely candidate to face him at the end of the May. That fight is still being discussed, but no deal has been finalized.

He had hoped to land a fight with WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto. That possibility fell through when Cotto scheduled June 6th as his return date. Khan is planning to return at the end of May in order to properly prepare for the start of Ramadan, on June 17th. According to Khan, he will need at least two weeks to prepare for Ramadan, and plans to start those preparations immediately following his May return.

Just more excuses. He cant fight brook because he needs 2 weeks to rest before Ramadan? That is an absurd excuse. He could fight brook on the 13th and have a few days. Hes just making excuses, although I think algieri is a better option than broker if he insists on ducking brook

I'm not backing Khan for fighting Algieri, it's definitely a poor fight. I wouldn't have minded to see it when Algieri was still undefeated. But some guys saying he doesn't need a rest before Ramadan is silly. 30 days of fasting from before sunrise to sunset at least 20 hours. Obviously after having a big fight you can't just rush into Ramadan. Especially if he gets battered and bruised. But he should still try finding a better opponent for his May fight.

Khan has felt the backlash from the fans after confirming Algieri. He's now clutching at straws trying to justify it.

If anything Khan's comments highlight that he's ducking Broner when it's the perfect time for the fight.
Khan will lose weight over Ramadam, it's a fast.

He could easily meet Broner at 145lb while preparing for Ramadam.

Khan/Broner is a better fight. Khan would still be the favourite but it's a better fight for the fans & both fighters would get credit for taking the fight.

Khan would rather fight Algieri & milk the fans
