That's actually a very effective technique.. I use to do it all the time to righties when I was a southpaw amateur... Especially vs an inexperienced fighter who may be facing his first southpaw.. You can literally freeze a guy in one spot and unload some nice shots of timed perfectly.. They get distracted by the foot and forget about defense for a split second, and this can be exploited

Yeah cause head movement was gonna be the key vs manny... Hatton had to suffocate manny and wrestle him to have any chance.. Head movement is nice, but that's not hattons game or athletic level.. All hatton did was concentrate in stuff he wasn't use to doing and froze up and got beat down, instead of doing the things that brought him success.. Namely getting into ugly rough fights with a lot of inside fighting...
I don't think it would have made much of a difference tbh. Pacquiao was red hot prime and out of Hatton's class, he would have walked onto shots trying to get inside.

          I agree...

I think manny wins either way, but somehow I feel like if he had ip his former trainer he had for the tszyu fight, he would have at least been competive

They should have tried to emulate what Augie Sanchez did to manny a few years prior, not be on your toes like your some clever boxer..

SR only failed floyd outside the ring, but roger has been with floyd 90% of the time, SR hangs around like a groupie, and really has put done anything for floyd since his first few years in amateur boxing..

SR is overrated because people claim he is some great trainer like nacho and roach, but those guys are levels better and have actually developed fighters, while SR in 30 years of training has never had one fighter develop under him.
Roger has handled floyd pretty much since puberty...

SR is gonna **** around and have floyd fight all defensively and manny gonna steal rounds,, roger would have floyd bombing straight rights and backing up manny and walking him down...
Against manny I would rather have the right hand expert, than the shoulder roll expert IMO
                1. No way. Hatton was moving one way and that was forward like he always did before. He was not up on his toes boxing.

2.Senior (in floyds words) was the one who came up with the game plan for Marquez and Corrales when Roger was training floyd. As his trainer Mayweather jr has yet to lose. Senior is the one who coached Mayweather as a child up to his teens. Senior was with Floyd jr when he won his first championship against Genero Hernandez. So your statement is false.

                3. What "people" are you talking about who you claim overrate Sr? Oscar Delahoya maybe? He said Mayweather Sr was the best trainer he ever had. Who exactly did Roach "develop" from the ground up? Not Pacquiao so don't even try that.

I agree with that too. Just when you look at the two, Floyd is much more economical with how he uses his legs.

                    1. Hatton def didn't come out fighting like he did vs tsyzu, Phillips, maussa, tackie... Like I said, he needed to somewhat emulate what augie Sanchez did to manny

                    2. Never said SR didn't have a hand in Floyd's success just that roger deserves about 90%.. SR has never had any Shakir success in developing any other fighters..

                    3. SR just piggybacks of Floyd's success, and somehow latches on to already established fighters like hatton, Oscar, dawson.. Had about zero success with all of them, though I will say he improved oscars right hand

Your right but I think that has a lot to do with the fighters he has been facing.. Ghost, canelo and Maidana don't have very quick feet, with manny, it's gonna be interesting to see how Floyd's legs and feet keep up at the much faster pace..
