Former junior-welterweight title challenger Demetrius Hopkins has been sentenced to 23 months in jail after pleading guilty to felony aggravated assault of a police officer, according to Pennsylvania’s The Phoenix Reporter and Item.
He was credited with the 10-and-a-half months already spent behind bars since his arrest in January.
The incident stemmed from when police found Hopkins?car disabled in the road. As officers moved the car, they became su****ious of the 34-year-old’s behavior. He also initially gave police a different name. Officers ultimately figured out who he was ?and that he had open warrants out for his arrest, the article said. That led to police trying to arrest him and Hopkins trying to get away, pulling officers with him into the road in the process.
