I mean it's still a very curious fight.. Who would rather see paquiao vs Jesse vargas and floyd versus khan?? Like I said they have to fight, ali fought Frazier, delahoya fought trinidad, pryor fought arguello u get the drift

Your red marks shows your boxing logic is lacking.

Um.........Leonard DID NOT AVOID PRYOR and it's RIDICULOUS to suggest Floyd ducked Margarito. He was offered the same $$ to unify, which is what he wanted as it help him get the Oscar fight. I'm sure if Margarito had beaten Williams and later Moseley, they very well may have fought. But he didn't keep up his end.........Floyd and Ray had more business sense.
For Leonard, A 2nd Hearns fight, a 3rd Duran fight, and a fight with Hagler were the money fights. This was pre-Arguello for Pryor. He wasn't big enough yet. Just wasn't.....similar to Margarito, no signature wins......simple.....
I agree what he did to Hagler (in-particular) and Hearns was shameful. He has a good reason not to fight for five years.....but to then come back and 'steal the fight' not because you won but because you exceeded expectations is garbage, Hagler demanded a rematch for a year while Ray insisted it was one and done. Hagler say screw this, I'm out. Then less than a month later he comes back?? And gets to fight for both the SMW and LHW title at the same time against Lalonde to set up Hearns 2...??....
BUT..... PRYOR won his title the same night Hearns won his..........but it was only one of his first fights after moving up from LW to140 so he fought a very aged Cervantes and they wanted him to fight someone to get people to talk...that did happen later. And he really hadn't fought anybody before Leonard retired besides Cervantes.
"Ducking" especially, but even 'avoiding' bet thrown around way too much. Esepecially when you are talking about guys at this level that have been the best for a decade, Floyd, who's won National Championships since he's been able to compete..........to think they are scared to fight anyone? PUH=LEASE.........."peeleft:
Leonard would have been more than willing to fight a 5'6 Pryor over a 6'1 Hearns with 1 punch KO power, don't you think? UNLESS OF COURSE THE MONEY WAS NOT THERE..........WHICH IT WASN'T.........
Pryor was actually supposed to fight Duran in Jan after the 'No Mas' fight but Duran didn't want to come back yet. If they had, the winner was supposed to fight Leonard after the first Hearns fight. When the Duran-Pryor fight didn't work out, Pryor was invited to Leonard's next fight anyway and the idea was to get him there and have him sign but they wanted him a little more hyped for the case.........because Leonard had already won a title at 154 before the Hearns fight and was already considering moving to MW........
Pryor was on his way to the fight when he heard on the radio it was cancelled. He was crushed. Leonard had the retina surgery and essentially retired shortly after.
But it was funny **** when he would interrupt SRL at press/post fight conferences and I'd have loved to have seen the fight.
Pacquaio and Floyd suddenly both have urgency because it's about to pass it's use-by date. Both sides are at fault, primarily Arum....He was far from done milking that cash cow and far more afraid of an 'L' than Floyd at the time......look how they ran from Marquez??.....But I have ZERO doubts both guys have wanted to fight since 2009 after the Marquez(Mayweather) and Cotto (Pac) wins when they were both seemingly unbeatable.
I actually think the much more controlled version of Pacquiao has a better chance. I thought he'd get picked apart before that. I still think Floyd will win but instead of 9-3, much more like 7-5 with enough argument for a rematch, which could be even bigger and be quite the send-off for Floyd......which could be exactly what he's thinking.........Turns out getting KO'd by Marquez and creating a more patient Pac is probably a good thing for him and the fight.........
BUT........were I Floyd, after those two, I'd cut a side-deal with Cotto to blow off Canelo, take a Mandatory, and try to break the Marciano record by going for the MW title. We all know Golovkin is going to rule that division. But Floyd's just too small for legit MW......but that would take the 5th lineal title for Floyd and he'd go out at 50-0..........not TBE but would likely get him just inside or out of the top 10 ATG.........down the road that is.......
Pac and Marquez are top 30-40 guys.
Anyway, if the fight doesn't happen, I won't watch either of them again......or at least I won't pay to........Andre Ward, even though he's not got may dance partners and promoter issues is truly the best in the world as far as age, resume, etc. He's in his prime. Floyd and Manny are both 3+ past theirs.......Last edited by ssc73; 12-24-2014, 01:23 PM.
