Comments Thread For: Sturm vs. Stieglitz Early Results From Germany

"Killer Queen" Susi Kentikian (34-2, 17 KOs) defended her WBA flyweight title for the fourth time in one of her sweetest and toughest career performances. Kentikian scored a very close unanimous decision over 39-year old Japanese veteran Noko Fujioka, who suffered her first loss and is now 12-1, with 6 KOs).

Fujioka, a two-time, two-division female champion, was coming down in weight, abandoning her WBA super flyweight title for a chance (and money) to fight one of the German's finest. She also held WBC minimumweight title before. Scores were: 96-94, 97-94 and 97-93 - for the Germany-based Armenian in what was en even fight indeed.

I had Sturm winning the fight, but you could tell his age has caught up with him. He was giving Stieglitz a boxing lesson for portions of the fight, I thought he landed the cleaner shots in this fight. His uppercut was on point, so was his straight right hand. I also appreciated his body work. But Stieglitz's volume and constant pressure likely influenced the judges, even though he was hitting the gloves for the most part.

If this was the Sturm of a few years back this would have been a shut out. But now he looks slower and more vulnerable.

Verry good fight! Both fighters had great moments but i had Sturm winning Close. FOTY in Germany at least. Draw is okay though. They will propably do a rematch. To me Sturm performed better than in a long time.

I thought Sturm might of just edged it, but a draw is a fair result. Cuban Linx is right, a lot of Stieglitz's shots hit the gloves.

very good fight, I had it 115-113 Sturm but you cannot argue too much with the draw. Sturm was the classier fighter through the first half but he tired and Stieglitz just bullied his way down the stretch.
