Comments Thread For: Gonzalez Stops Yaegashi In 10 For Flyweight Crown

Roman Gonzalez become just the second fighter in the history of Nicaragua to capture titles in three weight classes following a 9th round stoppage win over Akira Yaegashi in their flyweight championship Friday evening in Tokyo, Japan.

An action-packed fight proved right up Gonzalez' alley, scoring two knockdowns including a fight-ending volley of punches to drop Yaegashi and force the referee to stop the fight late in round 9. [Click Here To Read More]

            Amazing fight.

Roman Gonzalez is looking more like an ATG every time he fights. This win was very significant.

So many great fights to be made at 112 and they are actually willing to fight each other. Yaegashi didn't have to take that fight, but he did. I just wish other fighters would take a page from these little guys and grow some ****ing balls and stop coming up with excuses not to fight each other.

Im not sure if it was the stream it looked perfectly fine with me but that was a horrible stoppage the ref did not let the champion go out his way. Like he literally stopped it soon as he was about to stand up after waiting on his knee for the count.

Yup, definitely worth finding. Hardly a lull in the fight.

What a warrior Yaegashi is, hope he can bounce back in the near future. Wonderful victory for Roman and a legendary performance to tie it up in the books with Arguello in the history books.

Celebren Nicaragua! Tienen un gran campeón, algo fuera de serie. Viva Chocolatito y Viva Akira Yaegashi, dos guerreros!
