I confirmed with sources, that as reported by Gabriel Montoya of Maxboxing.com, USADA has filed a motion in Colorado District Court to “quash production subpoena” of Floyd Mayweather, Jr.’s medical records.
Manny Pacquiao’s lawyers are requesting a copy of all relevant medical records obtained by USADA from Mayweather during testing conducted for his fights against Juan Manuel Marquez, Victor Ortiz, and Miguel Cotto after Mayweather counter-sued Pacquiao for defamation. USADA wishes to withold such information by motioning to quash the subpoena.
Why USADA intends to do so, is something USADA chief Travis Tygart needs to address to galvanize its stance in "cleaning up sports" with its random drug testing. Many have criticized USADA practices such as BALCO's Victor Conte, stating that the only way to truly detect a clean fighter is through year-round random blood testing, a program boxer Nonito Donaire, Jr. has subscribed to through VADA (Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency) in an effort to help bring back the public's trust in the sport.
