People need to seriously stop acting like boxing is mainstream. These numbers don't surprise me at all. That's why I never debate, discuss, talk or even entertain the notion of such and such fighter can't put butts in the seats. Or this guy's ratings exceed this other one. It's pointless. ggg is a talent that should be noticed, but really isn't. People think 1.5 million viewers is a lot? In any other sport, that would be frowned upon.

Nonetheless, I hope this fight catapults either guy to bigger and better things

That was pretty obvious for a couple of reasons. One is it's the middle of the summer and most of the people that will be buying those $200-$300 tickets are usually away from the city and at the beach all weekend. Two is that GGG has been at all type of events at NIGHT in NYC promoting the fight when he should be resting for this fight so you know the promoters are dragging him around everywhere to see if they can generate some interest from the non hardcore boxing fan to come to the fight Saturday. The lower bowl 100s are for sale on stubhub for$60 now and the face value is$300. In reality the guys that will lose out big are the scalpers that bought up the really good seats ($500 level) and will be selling them for much less.

Want to sell out the arena? How about a unification championship middleweight bout between GGG and Peter Quillin (Brooklin New York). Let's put the the BS boxing politics aside and give the fans what they want. Let's get it on!
Well they could try and offer again and see if the third times a charm... Schaeffer isn't there anymore, but something else could easily clog it.

That might be better, but Quillin is still a question mark if you're talking about seat filling.

Golovkin can at least fill out the theater... Quillin/GGG is still a risk in the big theater, but not as big as Geale..... plus a new aspect of venue beef will be introduced with MSG and Barclays

I'm from the area and I could tell you that very few boxing events do well at MSG. In any other venue for $200-300 those would be front row seats. At MSG, they're not. Casual boxing fans rather wait for a decent fight to be at the Barclay center, pay $200-300 for a front row seat. MSG is very expensive and everything is over priced. Only huge, known boxing names good amount of tickets there. GGG is on his way there, but not there yet

I'd be pissed if I paid full price.

Its hard to sell out the garden unless ur cotto. Its a bad time of the year too plenty of fans are on holiday. I think its due to geale not having a fan base in America. New york fans know their boxing its not omaha nebraska were they aint had a fight in 40 years.

I think the 200 dollar tickets are mine that I bought in presale for 100. Looked up where I was and all the seats around me were in the 200 range
