I would be fine with Kirkland, then cotto..

I would much rather see cotto-canelo later this year, but I'm pretty sure we will get cotto/Bradley, and canelo/Kirkland, and then early next year get canelo/cotto

If he beats Kirkland then there is nothing left but Cotto for a spring cleaning.

I can't see him fighting anyone dangerous not to put a gigantic PPV event with Canelo at risk.
Supposedly It would be Marco Antonio Rubio, the WBC said about a month ago that there would be no more delays for "El Veneno" to go for the regular belt. since he is being waiting for almost 2 years.

Kirkland will be lucky to make it out the first round with Canelo.

Yea, unless Rubio gives permission to bypass him, don't see anyway around it. Cuello was in the same position and when te WBC tried to bypass him, he threatened to due and the fight was made

Are they waiting for Cotto to get older or something?

Is this an excuse in case of defeat? Last fight of Kirkland was on Dec. 2013 against Tapia. Assuming he wouldn't fight until November (projected time to fight Alvarez) that would make 11 months. Previous to fighting Tapia he was inactive for 21 months (Carlos Molina March 2012). That is a much longer layoff and I don't remember anybody stating that Tapia was taking advantage of the situation.

This would be an embarrassing mismatch that probably wouldn't make it into the 2nd round. At least it would be a decent payday for Kirkland and he could retire before his brains get scrambled.

I said it before, but Kirkland has no defense. He got hit with some hard shots in the first round against Tapia. Canelo would stop him.
