Why 144lb catchweight? If Marquez can easily make 140 and Alvarado fights at 140.

Exactly. This is starting to get ridiculous.

I assume it's because Marquez wants to go for a fifth title (WW) and doesn't want to be fighting too low in weight.

I think Alvarado can't make 140 anymore. On the Provodnikov weigh-in he looked like a zombie, he was in a very bad shape.

144 lb catchweight because Marquez wants Alvarado to kick his ass into retirement instead of Pacquiao, so he gets to keep that feeling.

The catchweight is definitely for Alvarado. He looked extremely gaunt in his last fight. I doubt he fights at 140 ever again.

Look at the damn skin around his neck. Idk how he lasted 10 rounds tbh.
