Dan Rafael: 800-900k buys for Mayweather-Maidana

When a fight goes through the roof the cable systems are more anxious to report the numbers. When a fight doesn't go crazy they take their time. From what I am told by industry sources, Mayweather-Maidana likely will not crack a million buys. More realistically, I am told the number will be between 800k and 900k.

First estimate from a definitively credible source.

2 weeks and still no number? Odd how the Canelo fight numbers came out in 5 days and that was the biggest money fight in history

And that's with Khan and Broner on the card. 2 guys who were drawing a million, plus views on HBO/Showtime.
Another money loser for Showtime. How's that $32 million guarantee looking now. And I laugh at the people who said Canelo didn't bring any fan base with him PPV number wise. We've seen 2 flops financially for Showtime out of 3 fights.

All this arguing over numbers is a joke. It's got people actually complaining because one company puts together a GOOD undercard.

I don't give a damn if your name is Pacquiao, or Mayweather, or what the fuck ever. To get 900,000 people to sit down and pay $70 to watch you, is amazing.

Surprising, at the same time, it's their own fault for not promoting it properly, and either way the rematch will be huge.

Good numbers. Did they even do a press tour for this fight or was it like the Guerrero one where Robert went out to promote the fight on his own?

You got a strange definition for good undercard.
