Mzonke Fana has retained his WBA Pan-African junior lightweight title by beating Temba Tshicila.
The former two-time IBF champion Mzonke stopped Tshicila in the second round of their fight at Qumbu in the Eastern Cape on Saturday.
Fana, who is 40 years old, looked in excellent shape as he went after the 38-year-old Tshicila from the opening bell.
He kept up the pressure in the second round until Tshicila’s helpers threw in the towel. However, referee Wally Snowball did not initially see the towel and the fight went on for a little longer.
