Comments Thread For: Provodnikov 'Disappointed' With Algieri, Wanted Marquez

After taking part in high profile fights against Timothy Bradley and Mike Alvarado, WBO junior welterweight champion Ruslan Provodnikov is "very disappointed" that Chris Algieri (19-0, 8KOs) will be his next HBO televised opponent on June 14th at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York.

Provodnikov was hoping to face more of a high profile opponent. While Algieri is a good fighter, he is unknown to most fans and Provodnikov believes he won't get as much credit in winning as he would against names like Juan Manuel Marquez and Brandon Rios.

Same reason Ruslan's team wouldn't fight Pacquiao: "We're the best friends in the entire world".....

Because Rios's team (Cameron Dunkin and Robert Garcia) don't want Rios to fight Prov. Cameron said that there was no money in a Prov fight and that they want Rios to stay at 147.

I'm pretty sure that Rios did want the fight but his team make him duck Prov cuz they know Prov would permanently ruin him
