I've been saying the exact same thing Roach said here since the beginning.

Martinez's style WILL NOT WORK against faster more skilled opponents. That hands down defense will be the end of Martinez against top level competition.

Styles make fights and come June 7 it'll be clear as day.

Martinez is a much better middleweight than Cotto. Martinez has dominated the division for years and established himself as top 5 p4p. When has Cotto ever dominated a division? Martinez didn't lose his last fight. He won it fair and square even with several severe injuries that he won't have for the Cotto fight. Dropped in every fight prior up to the first Williams fight? That's just wrong. If Martinez was very easy to hit, he'd be in a lot more wars than he's been in. Interestingly, Cotto has been hit more in his past several fights than Martinez has in his. Cotto doesn't have the power to drop Martinez. It took a giant Chavez to hurt Martinez. Cotto doesn't hit like Chavez. And Cotto faster than Martinez? Jim Lampley called Martinez the fastest 154lber he had ever seen. Martinez has been exceptionally fast at both 154 and 160. Cotto's speed has been nothing special at 154 at all. There's nothing to indicate that Cotto is a smarter fighter than Martinez. If Cotto cuts off the ring on Martinez and tries to press him, he'll get hit with hard counters like everybody who presses Martinez gets hit with. And Martinez never backs straight into the ropes. He repeatedly turned Pavlik and Chavez when they tried to trap him on the ropes. You are severely underestimating the impact of size in this fight. Remember, a good puncher at 147 (Pacquiao) repeatedly hurt Cotto. Martinez is one of the hardest punchers at 160. Cotto a much better all around boxer/fighter than Martinez? No. Martinez is the champion in his division, something Cotto has never accomplished. Martinez hasn't dominated middleweight for years by being as beatable as you make him sound.

Use paragraphs next time... and yes, Martinez has been knocked down in EVERY fight going all the way back to the first Williams fight, go check it out. It doesn't mean he has a bad chin but it shows he is easily hit and has horrific footwork. I also keep saying people saying "How is Cotto going to take Sergio's punch and if he can't take Manny's?" IDK, he isn't going to weigh 145 pounds, losing 2 more pounds than he should have after being passed 140 for 3 or 4 years, yea that's how. I'm not saying Cotto was drained at 145, but FFS just look at pictures of Cotto at 145 and 154 he's a COMPLETELY different size. He wasn't drained but it certainly had an affect on his chin. Isn't Cotto a champion at 140, 147 and 154 or has been so he's been champ just as Martinez has.

Also, Martinez hasn't faced anyone in the top 10 ever IMO. People will say Williams but he was overrated like nobodies business. I was calling a KO waiting to happen before Sergio put him to sleep, throwing 100 slap punches a round and then crouching down 4 or 5 inches in the process is NOT a good fighter, sorry. Cotto is LIGHT YEARS in skill above anyone Sergio has ever fought, period. I don't know why I even really responded to this, you ask how I can say Cotto is the smarter fight, when I ****ing put in my post why he is the smarter fighter, learn to read.

Umm... yes, yes you do when the last time you fought someone in the top 10 P4P was over 5 years ago (Paul Williams) who BTW shouldn't have even been in the top 10. He was a KO waiting to happen and I said it well before he fought Sergio, he was a 6'3" toothpick fighting guys 5'7" at 147 pounds. Martinez has fought C level opposition since Pavlik (who was drunk during that fight.)

Roy Jones and Sergio are nearly identical twins in terms of how they win fights. The minute Roy went up against a highly skilled BOXER he got KTFO.

Cotto couldn't outbox Austin Trout. He's not likely to outbox a superior southpaw in Martinez.

This guy... Cotto just came off a great performance against Mayweather and had no respect for Trout, he was supposed to be a stepping stone. Not to mention his training is COMPLETELY different now, the Cuban had him running 7-8 miles 6 days a week and sparring well over 100 rounds. That isn't training that's being ******, nothing more... I can't wait to bump this thread on June 8 lol.

Yea amazing that everyone is so called experts of the game BUT Cotto has always given exciting fights and had his shots in all his fights even the ones he lost. So i dont know why people are saying its going to be a massacre.

Cotto is more skilled and the better boxer , only thing that worries me is the size differential i saw when they stood next to each other. Some guy made a good point, if Cotto couldnt take Pacquiaos 147's best shots, what more of Martinezs. But if Cotto can take it , i think it takes the fight as well!

I don't think it's good point. It should be a disregarded point.

What Pacquaio did was quite unusual. Pacquaio dropped Shane Mosley very easily too, and a big guy like Canelo Alvarez could not drop Shane Mosley a single time despite hitting him with repeated bombs throughout the fight. So what does that mean? If Martinez can't stop Cotto, will that mean Pacquaio hits harder to Martinez?

I don't think Trout was supposed to be a stepping stone. Cotto only took that fight because he wanted to be champion again, Trout had the 'regular' belt which shouldn't have been in existence.

I do feel that Cotto will expose Martinez though. My only issue with Cotto is that he should have demanded random drug testing out of all the demands he was making. But oh well. I think Martinez is overrated and people may be in for a surprise at how badly he gets exposed.

I could be wrong though, but that's what I think.
