There is a smart guy on YouTube -- Barry Robinson... He's a boxing trainer and he uploaded a video analysis of this fight here... Unfortunately he deleted it later -- I suspect he was "kindly asked"... because he showed just how Kovalev was studying his opponent's movement into the first round and then dispatched him with ease...

In short: Sillakh moved away and stayed in the distance, but he stopped and stepped forward in order to load his left jab... Twenty seconds in the second round, Sillakh stepped in front and Kovalev immediately caught him with a short stiff right and put him down... Sillakh got up only in order to take the second straight right which put him to sleep...

Impression I get is a guy who you get what you see with, but ain't always comfortable with people who don't act with the same directness (or bluntness if you prefer) and has little tolerance for those who dissemble or deceive.

Although Sillakh had earlier slighted Kovalev (Sillakh chose to fight Grachev saying that Kovalev was a nobody - LOL), Sergeis problem was apparently that Ismail treated him respectfully at the presser and then went and posted that he was gonna bury Kovalev etc online... apparently Kovalev found this kinda dishonest or underhand and took it to heart. One of those guys who doesn't care if you like em or not, but expects you to be honest about it, I guess.
Cheers for that. Other than watching him fight, I dont really know much beyond that.

        He's a mean out-of-control brawler.

Bernard Hopkins needs to get in the ring and tame his ass. Give that street fighter a boxing lesson!

He did stick his tongue out at Lonnie B when Thompson pretended not to be bothered by his punch, but that ain't in the same league as the legendary Hip-Thrust and FU Elbow Hinge after he'd battered the Welsh favourite into submission.

I do have a couple of favourite Kovalev quotes tho which need to be said in a deep Russian accent.

Post Fight - OTTOMH this was either from Lonnie Thompson or Campillo:

          Q. Look at the fight...what do you see?

SK. I see...I see only target.

          Prior to White fight:

          Q. What is your strategy in this fight?

SK. My strategy is simple - to keep hitting him as hard as I can!

This final one appears to come from an older interview, but I can't confirm it - possibly Sillakhs not the first guy that SKs tauntd on the floor.

          Q. What were you saying to him (the fighter)...did you want the ref to stop th fight?

          A. No...I wanted him to get up so I could punch him some more.

Add in the gruff Russian accent and pretty much any comment he makes in his broken English becomes almost perfect smack talk tho.
          OMG...

Hopkins needs to tame this dude!!

            Yes, he's a "brawler"... he's a crazy guy...
I suspect that B-Hop is already chasing the ****** Russian brawler as we speak, right?

(I'm ready to put real money down on the fact that Hopkins will never enter the same ring with the "mean out-of-control brawler"... How about you?)

You don't like B-Hop? He's made a career off handing out boxing lessons to big punchers and brawlers, all of whom the media and fans said were gonna knock him out.

B-Hop all day! Even a 49-year-old Hopkins can give that Russian a free one-day course in boxing 101.

              You got this, B-Hop.

Hopkins wanted Kovalev! But Kovalev's handlers didn't want B-Hop! They know that's an automatic loss on their guy's record. Also, Hopkins could ruin Kovalev. They don't want that!

I like B-Hop very much! You don't know how much I like him -- he's a monument in the sport!... he's a living legend! He's one of the most intelligent boxers I've ever seen!

But don't look down to Kovalev... You people (i.e. fans) there in America know and understand very little about "the Russian school"... Your fighters understand more, but they don't speak much -- instead they don't fight those Russians...

I think you're overrating Kovalev. He's tailor-made for Hopkins. It would be a beautiful boxing lesson.

Don't come up with this again...
Did ShowTime and GBP offered Kov a contract one year ago?
... they let him go to HBO...
... Back in the Spring of 2013 Kovalev clearly said he wanted Dawson, Cloud, Hopkins... look:
