bruce lee was an actor. that's what he accomplished. that's why he's famous. he was a talented actor who died young. his "Fans" turned him into something he wasn't; a great fighter. if he weren't an actor, you'd have no idea who he was.
No.. He was a martial artist first.. And who's to say a "martial arts practitioner" of his caliber can't beat a "fighter" ... The labels we are assigning and the semantics games we are playing are ludicrous and yet fitting representation of what happens in NSB on the daily.

Instead of assigning respect where due to clearly impeccable form, we are pretending Bruce was just an actor, as if he didn't build his movie career off of his amazing martial art skill. He was the paradigm. Ain't no one was even trying to watch martial art movies when he came along. He is the one that paved the way for the jet lis, and Donnie yens.

And he was also a lifelong practitioner and student and teacher..of combat arts. To say he wasn't formidable and was just as tough as Donnie ****in Wahlberg or stifler from American pie is ******ed.

Floyd and others have said all the work for a fight is done in the gym. That they train hard so a fight is easy. That's what a traditional MA that has a lifelong dedication to their craft DOES. They train so that the fights are easy, even if the fights are not often. Who trained more than Lee? The guy was a gym rat moreso than even Floyd, a true martial prodigy and clearly his acting career was a byproduct of only that.

As I said I don't cosign Lee beating Tyson, but he is a challenge to anyone around his own size and strength. There's a question of chin? Chin doesn't even matter as much in a ****ing street fight, and Lee was clearly superior at the use of weapons as well, which last time I checked, are used in street fights all the time.

Doesn't mean they ain't prepared.. A true martial artist that is dedicated as I am talking about spends their whole life in training camp...so that they are ready if they need to fight. The difference is a martial artist in the most traditional sense has no idea when they are going to need their skills, they must stay constantly honed and ready. A "fighter" knows when and who.

          That there speaks for itself.

Stay in training camp for life, fight no one = Great fighter.

          Not in my book.

People need to wake up,serioulsy you can't be called a fighter if you never fought.
You can train for 50yrs and still not be called a fighter cause you never fought.
This is not hard to understand

Doesn't matter how long you train you can't replicate a real fight by kicking a heavy bag and trying to catch flies with chopsticks.

                    Sure he's had less fights..

But the potential is there for him to be one of the best by sheer fact of the countless hours he applied to his craft and the fact he dedicated his prodigy mind solely to fight theory. A very real potential.

I thought about it and you said fighters are professional athletes. Well, martial artists as dedicated as I speak of are professional athletes as well.. they just have a different philosophy of life. Does not mean they cant bust **** up if they can find moral justification to do so.

Ok, that makes sense now. Only morons argue about subjects they have no knowledge about.

Not a fighter to your standards? Haha.
