Comments Thread For: Lara: Angulo Looked Old, Should Consider Retirement

MGM Grand, Las Vegas - WBA 'regular' junior middleweight champion Erislandy Lara felt that his old rival, Alfredo Angulo, looked like an old man on Saturday night. Angulo was beat down for nine rounds by Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, before referee Tony Weeks had seen enough in the tenth and waved off the contest.

It was a far cry from the Angulo who dropped Lara two times in a ten round war back in June of 2013. In that contest, Angulo had power, threw combinations in bunches and was quicker to the trigger.

Lara whipped Angulo way worse than Canelo did, made him quit. He didn't have to weight cheat him on the scales either. Lets see if Canelo has the balls to face the best fighter at 154 next, Erislandy "American Dream" Lara.

i'd say lara definitely fought the better version of angulo...and yes lara did make angulo quit...that speaks way more than canelo having the ref jump in with that BS stoppage

Lara whipped his ass and made him quit, Canelo had to cheat him on the scales and get a bogus stoppage by the ref. Lets see if Canelo has the balls to face the best fighter at 154 next, Erislandy 'American Dream' Lara.

                ^^^^^^^^^^This

Lara was playing paddy cake last night, not even punching hard. Lara destroyed him mentally and physically. Angulo was beyond shot by the time Canelo got to him, courtesy of Lara.

Who said Canelo wants to fight the best in his division?. He prefer Cotto who just won a FNF Commentator and is done as a fighter or a slow punching bag like Angulo without motivation like yesterday. When Canelo asked to the crowd if they wanted the Lara's fight they said YES. Only Canelo fans wants him to be protected with grandpas.

Even though the stoppage was premature. Angulo's corner had already threatened to stop it because of the shots he was taking. It was hard to watch El Perro take those shots and not having any power with his own.
