It's the dominance he has with his 'seek and destroy' style that's so exciting to viewers. He brings with him a high probably of an action-packed fight that will most likely end in a stoppage. On top of that, he's endearing and humble himself (guys who don't like him will hang on every word his handlers say but forget that he himself is actually a humble man). Boxing fans and the common man alike can all see the appeal of a GGG fight.

Ward caters to the boxing purists, which are far fewer in between. He's got a sort of bland personality and doesn't have such an exciting style, more 'veteran tactics' aka excessive holding.

It's like comparing Megan Fox to Cate Blanchet. Yea, Cate is the better actress but who puts butts in the theatres?

Can't get mad at HBO for trying to run a business. To be honest, HBO will get more "**** for the buck" with GGG and will provide them a better rate of return as oppose to Ward who is probably more expensive with a small fan base.

AGree with you. GGG is far better for HBO's business than ward is. But if I'm ward and I left SHo to come to HBO on the promise of being promoted as a star, only to see Herschman come to HBO (who is probably mad that ward went to HBO after the super 6) and go this route has to be frustrating as hell, especially since ward believes (as I do) he'd beat GGG's ass.

I'm sure if HBO though GGG would beat ward they'd be making the fight rather than downplaying and avoiding it.

why would ward move down to 160? GGG gets ratings on HBO but he doesn't outsell ward. Ward in Oakland sells out an arena, GGG sells out the THeatre in MSG-5k seats. Assuming he fights Lee next-Lee and stevens surely were responsible for more seats being sold as they are local fighters both with good supportive fans.

HBO isn't going to put GGG anywhere near ward so Andre need not compromise anything. Ward is the best fighter on HBO and one of the 2 best fighters in the world, something GGG isn't.

Just have HBO put them in the ring together-pay ward his usual 2 mil pay GGG 600k and lets see who the better man is.

Thats the amount he and his management agreed to be compensated at. thats on them. Maybe they should have negotiated a better sum. HBO agreed to pay ward what they are paying him. so pay each guy what they make and have them fight.

As for the ratings, HBO does a good job of promoting his fights and giving him the right opposition for him to look good and GGG does his part by KTTFO.

No one is denying GGG is a popular fighter. No one is denying he is skilled. I just can understand why andre would be frustrated that someone who isn't as good as he is is getting pushed while simultaneously being protected.

Golovkin said he would fight the big names of 154 & 168 in 2012, where was Ward (or Lara....not that he's a big name) then? Lara was still fighting on HBO around that time, why didn't he call out Golovkin?

I'm not saying any of these guys are ducking/ducked Golovkin, but I question their timing.

Anyway, GGG's team has plans to match Golovkin against Ward probably sometime next year. Until then, SOG should STFU, handle his lawsuit, get back in the ring and NOT LOSE! Golovkin is SERIOUS!

GGG's been on the american scene for a year and he is already a star one more year and he'll be miles bigger than ward (he is bigger already) no wonder ward sounds so jealous. New fans flocking to GGG and his career is skyrocketing ... Ward's is in Limbo. Why doesn't he just move up to 175? he has nothing left to prove at 168 and is just as I said in limbo there now, calling out guys a division below (not offering to go down to fight them mind you ... in typical ward style they have to go up/down to his division)

People gave out about GGG looking for a floyd fight saying he was hunting guys below him but at least GGG offered to go down to 154 when he called out the smaller man. Ward calls out the smaller man but only if the smaller man goes up, and fights in ward's backyard ... and same people are like 'yeah go ward!' ... lol the hypocrisy of some of you folks is hilarious. let ward go to 175 if he wants to prove he's the best (I'm sure Kovalev would be happy to fight him) and if he wants to fight middleweights let him go to 160.
