Comments Thread For: Bute's Trainer is Stunned: I Have No Explanation

Bell Centre, Montreal, Canada - Stephan Larouche, trainer of former IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (31-2, 24KOs), offered no explanation on why his boxer was unable to let his hands go for much of his contest with Jean Pascal (29-2-1, 17KOs). Bute finally opened up in the twelfth and final round, and had Pascal in some trouble. But it was too late, as Pascal won on scores of 116-112, 118-110, 117-111.

Bute looked ridiculous and In no way deserves a rematch. I had high hopes for this fight, but only one man showed up.

He lacked confidence and it showed.

Maybe just the fact he survived 12 rounds gives Bute the belief in himself that he's not going to get Froch'd everytime.

I have an explanation. He was scared. The Froch fight has him shook. When you don't throw punches your scared of what's coming back in return.

Bute had a nice run but its time to hang them up.

It's the Carl Froch syndrome, he was afraid of a counter.

Bute hadn't been in the ring for 14 months and the ring rust showed.

              Pascal wasn't throwing much either.

I think it was a mental issue. Bute has no confidence in his defence and his ability to take a punch. So he simply could not open up.

Yeah he is done. It is official.

His resume is so awful. Prior to getting destroyed by Froch, he fought Glenn Johnson, Jean-Paul Mendy, Brian Magee, Jesse Brinkley & Edison Miranda. He was always C level, and Pascal isn't much better.

                  Mentally, he is gone.

Sakio Bika? that win doesn't look so bad.
