This situation is absurd. The so called "accountant" hired by one of the highest earning athletes (Not richest....highest earning) does not even have the basic qualifications of an accountant.
If you read some of the articles the absurdity is compounded. There is supposed to be transparency and fidiciary responsabilities to the client. This gentleman who worked for Arum, the first red flag, was not at all transparent and had virtually no fidiciary allegiance to Manny, rather his allegiance was to Arum.
The auditors, people hired by Manny were then called on the carpet...keeping in mind the potential amount of financial resources involved another independent audit could have been done to confirm and verify information from the first people.
Regarding the IRS and other tax agencies....I would not assume that this is a case of Manny trying to dodge. This has all the characteristics of a set up. Arum probably wants Manny beholden to him and this is a great way to guarantee Manny will have to work with Arum. The IRS is not a random objective organization. It is designed to take people out. Thats essentially what it does. You owe taxes you can go to prison. You can be shut down in a day, all your potential to earn taken away with a court order...this is not the activities of a COLLECTION AGENCY people!! Think ok?
The idiots here that think the IRS is fair and even handed and impartial need to understand that there is virtually no legal precedents for most IRS activities. Furthermore the agency is designed so that the right people can avoid paying taxes very easily. Why is it that tax sheltering does not exist for people that earn a large income? but...for a rich person that has trusts, life insurance policies and businesses virtually no taxes are paid? why is it that our money goes to subsidize minimum wage workers who need government benefitts, yet these corporations are given business tax breaks?
I only mention this because some of you are assuming Manny is guilty when
it is a fact the IRS has destroyed people's lives when the very legal foundations of taxing an income are heresay....think about it and stop being sheeple. Manny may be guilty, he may not be, but chances are he was set up to take a fall. Unless one believes Arum, a Harvard Lawyer never learned about fidicuary responsability.
