This fight needs to happen sometime next year. This is assuming they both win on Saturday.

Pascal/Bute winner vs. Stevenson would be a big fight in Canada. However, Kovalev vs. Stevenson is the best fight at 175 right now.

I think he's been brought on too quickly here. Could get gassed if sillakh can push this into the championship rounds.
I doubt Sillakh will be able to last 8 rounds. We'll see this Saturday.

It is so frustrating when fighters use the 'Who have they fought?' excuse to get out of a fight everyone is clamoring for

too many fan boys on here - Sylakk lost 1 fight (he should not have lost it, but he lost focus and got caught) he was the most feared light heavy at the time - do not sleep on this fight ! People are crowning a cat that hasn't been past 8rds - like I've been saying, Kovalev's opponents have been doing what they are supposed to do, get hurt and go down, but when he faces a irish mike perez type of opponent(I always make that comparison because he was picked to lose - I hate the outcome - but he was chosen as a good undefeated record to add to the credibility of another record) Cats on here are searching for Mr. right or something - Sylakk might embarrass this cat or end up stopping him ! The black Russian is slick, can box his ass off / and has a decent punch himself. this will not be easy for Kovalev at all .

Dawson and Cloud may be bigger names in the US than Campillo and Cleverly, but are/were they actually better fighters? Don't think so.

I have no problem with Stevenson trying to make some money against lesser opponents before he takes on Kovalev, but he should get off his high horse. Him and Kovalev are equals in terms of accomplishment. If he doesn't want to fight Kovalev next, fine by me, but Kovalev doesn't have to "earn" the fight. He already has.

if stevenson was confident he would fight kovalev and then go for the big money fight afterwards. but he knows that kovalev would stop him and that would mean no more big pay days. hopefully hbo won't accept his bull**** and force him to face his fears.

Nothing surprising here. Stevenson is limited guy, who caught Dawson at the absolute perfect time. I'm not suggesting that Kovalev is a world beater. But right now he's the biggest threat to Stevenson and its fairly clear that Mr Adonis wants to put that showdown off as long as he can.

Stevenson keeps talking about Hopkins. That fight isn't makeable. And to be real. While Stevenson is trying to pick on the old guy. I would be very tempted to pick a 50yr old Hopkins top beat this cat. So Stevenson may be making beds in a burning house here.

As for Kovalev. My suggestion to him would be to vacate his belt after Sat night. And his management need to get with the WBC and see who he needs to fight to become Stevenson's mandatory. No, that doesn't guarantee he'll get the fight. Obviously, Stevenson could simply vacate the belt to avoid the match-up. But that move would be a PR nightmare for him and he likely loses all credibility.
