So if he is no longer eligible to fight for the WBA title because he busted weight, why do there rules apply? At this point the WBA seemingly should have nothing to do with the fight or at least with Edwin.
If I was Edwin I would just let Ward pull out considering he may not be in the best shape anyway since he didn't make weight. Ward claims he can easily beat him and Froch in the ring at the same time, so why is he worried about getting extra money for easy work. Common sense would tell you that he doesn't want to shake off ring rust against Stevenson or Kovalev so just get this one out of the way and move forward if you know you can beat the guy easy.

I actually am siding with ward. Rules are rules. I do think he is overrated though.

Nice find by team Ward. Rules are rules. Pay up Edwin.

Dre was the one being professional, making weight and fulfilling his contractual obligations. Edwin should of known this rule was in place before he decided to miss weight.

            I am ALL FOR THIS.

Fighters not making the weight is becoming the norm. 10-20% is one thing, but half of your purse is something to really make you think twice.

I don't believe in weight-draining; if you accepted the fight, you accepted the challenge to make that weight. you signed the contract. If a fighter doesn't think he can make the weight, he shouldn't have signed. NO EXCUSES.

              Exactly.

It might be financial wrangling by lawyers.

But you know those times where you just throw your hands up and say, fuck boxing?

If this fight doesn't happen, I'm just about there.

Ward acting like a diva when he can't draw flies to shyt. That man ain't giving up no 45% of his purse, and if he does he's a fool. If anything I see Rodriguez pulling out before that happens, the fight almost didn't happen over money an now they expect the guy to turn around an give up 45% of his purse??? Ward can't afford not to fight tonight he has more to lose than Rodriguez...

Rodriguez came in over the limit....you guys reached an agreement already. You should have acted upon the rules yesterday....it goes to show that you didn't know the rules to begin with or you would not have agreed to a different compensatory amount.

The dude will likely be drained anyway because he didn't prepare properly, you are supposed to be P4P#2 or at least that's what the majority of people think, and you should be able to easily beat him any way. You are scared and trying to take the easy way out....phoney ass dude.

P4P fluke....5 decent fights over guys who already had losses..........guess he was too worried about facing a legit undefeated threat. Never even faced an undefeated guy above scrub level in your entire career.
i will never understand boxing fans.

Ouch, this is turning ugly. Bomba gonna catch an ass whupping inside and outside the ring. If the WBA title is no longer on the line, why follow their rules?

You guys are crazy..........you don't reach an agreement, make a deal and re-nig on it at the last minute. If he was so tight with the rules, he should have said this yesterday. He wants to mess with Rodriguez' "cheese" yet all he is really doing is messing with HBO's "cheese". They are gonna put the hammer down on homey and show him who is really in charge. Remember, HBO was picky with Ward from the beginning, they aren't going to take any schit from him.
