Reese had a power deficit, but he was at least trying to land what he could on Broner. He tried to do damage. And he landed several shots clean.

Malignaggi could have landed more clean if he had changed his mentality. Maidana has a mentality and physical gifts to go in and really put everything Broner is about to its breaking point. Mentally, and physically.
Broner is the real deal when it comes to power at lightweight.

His power at 147 is a mystery, it could indeed still be devastating, Paulette was just angry and trying to discredit Broner when he says he has no power at 147 imo. It's probably not the same as it was at 130 but it's probably there to a reasonable degree.

Hard to say.. I think Broner was very large at LW. As to power, he didn't have the deceptive, jaw shattering power of some other guys who''s body physicality didn't even, at first look, resemble someone with all that much lethality. He's still a guy that has to be able to outmuscle his opponent, at the end of the day.

Broner's best win, Demarco, was overhyped I feel. They guy was iced by Valero, and got a very early and unwarranted stoppage against Molina. I saw that as the boxing powers setting up a credible opponent more than anything. And of course, Broner could not use his vaunted lower weights power to get PDL out of there.

That and the fact he moved up 2 divisions does cast real doubt on his power to stop maidana, as the fanatics keep saying will happen...He's too short to enjoy the huge size advantage he typically likes when he fights.. and even if he manages to get it, he will bulk up too much for his frame and it will actually take away from his power, and speed.

Height doesn't matter for power. Mayweather is only what 5'8 and he even competes at 154. Broner is no fledged welterweight and neither is Maidana who has a punches chance but I see boner stopping him not to the head to Maidanas soft spot...his body! Remember the Khan fight and I forgot the other...he can't take a body shot well.

No one is saying it does. What matters is lean long muscle vs stacked muscle. On a smaller frame, more mass = less lean long muscle. As is the age old saying, Muscles does not = Punching power. Or perhaps, "Boxing aint a weight lifting competition" is more to your liking? Mayweather doesn't try to bulk up at no 154. He fights at about 149-150. So the formula still holds true. Besides, Mayweather has considerably less power than he did at the lower weights. He was blasting guys out left and right back then, similar to Broner, eh?

And I must sound like a broken record by now, but Maidana with ariza is gonna be steely to the body. And this myth he can't take a shot to the gut is overblown to begin with. He took a debilitating shot to the liver that would have paralyzed 95% of other fighters... and he got up and went on to hurt his man.

You are referring to the Lopez fight where he was supposedly hurt to the body.. only it was his hip.

I hope you're right because I like Maidana, but I have a feeling Broner will show us something new like Danny did against Matthysse.

they been doing medicine ball training to prepare. And every trick ariza knows to tighten up the midsection. Broner and his fans gonna be dissapointed if there is no plan B besides body shots.
