Paulie and Gavin have fast hands. When I hear guys like Rios and Maidana think they can land the same, it throws me off, because these guys throw slow.

So Boner (at a whopping five foot seven), suddenly becomes a fully fledged welterweight?

Maidana will have a bit of trouble finding Bonehead, but he will have little trouble connecting. Tough fight, but I see Maidana wearing Bonehead down by 6-8... that is IF he stays busy and Garcia gives him the right advice between rounds. Can't let Bonehead get momentum.
I agree with you but I can't see Maidana doing anything in this fight. He needs to come out fast and get Broner on his bicycle. If he comes to this fight with that same recycled jab, overhand right/straight right predictable crap he has no shot. I believe the only chance Maidana has is if he makes this a brawl and clips Broner with something he didn't see. I don't think he can wear him down or slowly get to him. If these little guys got to Broner early on that's the only chance Maidana has is early on. This fight could be highly entertaining or end up being a borefest. Thurman vs Soto will probably steal the show.

Seems like everybody has forgot about how bad Maidana looked against popshot Alexander

I really want Maidana win, hes changed since the Alexander schooling
Not really everyone knows he's a hand picked opponent otherwise he wouldn't get the fight. Broners not fighting anyone really dangerous they know he hasn't got the goods for that.

Can Broner take Maidana's hard shots?

The way to beat these brawlers, like Maidana, Matthysse and so on is to box them. To stay at a distance and constantly move laterally so that they are forced to reset and reset. Garcia, Judah and Alexander showed this very clearly. Peterson started to brawl with Matthysse and that was the end for him, Garcia never made the same mistake, except for the last 25 seconds of the fight after he looked at the clock. I can see Broner circling Maidana all night long and keeping him at a distance but Marcos can change everything with one punch and this makes this fight a thriller. If Broner fights the way Garcia did against Matthysse he could pull this off, but Garcia showed that he could take a punch, can Broner?

He has stood in front of all his recent opponents because no one has had any sort of KO power to hurt him. He is going to use angles and move in this fight no doubt about it. If Maidana does not land something of significance in the first 4-5 rounds and get Broner attention this is just going to be another boxing lesson for Maidana. All you will see in this fight is if Broner is able to handle a semi decent straight right set up by an average jab from maidana. Let's not try and act like Maidana is some super elite killer that knocks everyone out. He could not get rid of brittle chin Khan for Christ sake. This is not the guy to take Broner's O.
Mediocre jab? its a very stiff, thudding jab, more like a power shot. Semi decent right hand? Its a very good right hand. I'm talking the one he got to Karass with.

His shots were not straight and he did not utilize the jab in the Khan fight. You're telling me Khan could have took the shots Maidana stopped Lopez and Karass with? Please, I have a bridge to sell you.

Maidana had the wrong gameplan in his losses. He didn't fully utilize his considerable gifts. Please dont try to act like he's the same after hooking up with garcia, if you start saying that I know you are a type that doesn't have an eye for this type of thing, you just thumb through your rolodex of who lost to who, without looking at context, or analyzing someone's style and readiness as of right NOW. The past is dead. I've seen both fighters, weighed their last performances, and that's all that matters. In fact might even expect less out of Broner performance-wise, than last time, because he's clearly a distracted buffoon and drunk off the bit of fame he has acquired. He's going in there with a lion that has been sharpening his teeth and claws, and he parties and underestimates his opponent, much like alot of his fans.

This is a great point. Alex is a top notch S and C coach, and Garcia has done wonders with the diamond in the rough that was Maidana... They might just deliver us a ***el.

No Syf, I've followed this sport considerably longer than most people on this website. I do agree that if Broner takes this fight like he did paulie or rees he will get embarrassed. I honestly think he needs a lost to start taking this sport serious. Maidana is not the one to do it. I don't think it matters which trainer Maidana has or who's doing his conditioning now. In saying that, His ONLY CHANCE is brawling. He will not outbox Broner. He will not show Broner any special skillset he has not seen to date. With the exception of power I don't see how Maidana pulls this one out, outside of clipping Broner. We all know if it goes to the cards who will win anyway. Now if your too blind to see that you might want to cross that bridge yourself sir. I hope your right though, Broner needs a wake up call for sure but don't bet on Maidana being the one to do it.

Maidana can maul him, or switch tactics and be a ranged bomber with the jab.

The fact you don't give his jab or right hand respect makes me skeptical of your ability to assess things from a martial mindframe.

Like I said, don't look at how he fought Khan, look at how he fights now. Or do you contend that he fights the same since he hooked up with Robert Garcia? Clarify for me.

exactly my thoughts, its not even like they were landing clean they just threw fast punches out there hoping to hit something

The fight, stylistically to assess would be the reese one. .. .Paulie is a flurry and step away guy. He ain't gonna land clean because his intent is points, he just wants to touch and go. This approach is what lost him the fight. People saw Broner doing more damage even if he was out thrown and out landed. Paulie was hoping there was some olympic judges judging the fight, apparently.

Reese had a power deficit, but he was at least trying to land what he could on Broner. He tried to do damage. And he landed several shots clean.

Malignaggi could have landed more clean if he had changed his mentality. Maidana has a mentality and physical gifts to go in and really put everything Broner is about to its breaking point. Mentally, and physically.
