Comments Thread For: Donaire Had Doubts: I Felt Like He Broke My Cheek

Vic Darchinyan was unable to get revenge, but he placed some doubts in the heard of Nonito Donaire at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas. Darchinyan fought at a measured pace, hit Donaire with numerous hard punches and before he was stopped in the ninth round - he was up on two scorecards 78-74, with the judge having it a draw. The loss drops Darchinyan's record to 39-6-1. Donaire, who knocked Darchinyan out in five rounds in 2007, improved to 32-2 with 21 knockouts.

As a huge Donaire fan...he's starting to remind me of Randall Bailey. Just waiting for that one big shot. Of course he is a lot better than BAiley but damn. Donaire needs to just box and not always go for one punch KO's. If the fire isn't there just retire then.

But either way Donaire's power is for real. There aren't many guys that can punch like Donaire. Don't think hie record reflects the power he has. Darchinyan has only been stopped by Donaire so hes got a good chin.

vic is a strong puncher, i remember darch also broke nonito's brother jaw....

@ronin I agree nonito is relying to much with tha one punch, he wont beat to many slick boxers with that attitude...

you know I'm not really sure anymore. I expected him to box a smart fight and not get touched as much as he did.

Rematch Rigo and retire bro put it to rest Donaire sounds mentally weak right now, Rigondeaux gave him the gun shy syndrome or something he did the same **** in this one he was lucky Vic is as faded as he is, and seemed like he had a soft chin compared to Rigo at least.

My question is has Nonito always been this mentally weak or was it just like the endless excuses, a sign that loosing really affected him?

It was frustrating watching Donaire...fast feet, fast hands, big power and good length, but he was sitting there....hoping to end it on a single punch.

Darchinyan is a very hard puncher. I'm glad Donaire didn't quit like Angulo, Delahoya, Victor Ortiz, Judah, etc. Donaire reached deep and found the will to finish off Darchinyan.
