Whether or not Mayweather will fight him wasn't part of the topic. There are plenty of threads that discuss who "he won't fight", etc. The nay-sayers get a hard on at the thought of him getting knocked out and care more about that than actually seeing a good fight.
Back to the topic: Golovkin is a big risk at 160 because of his size, power, speed and skill. Mayweather would be a pretty small middleweight. He'd probably would show up to fight night at 155-157 max, and his opponent would most likely outweigh him by at least 10-15 pounds. I also don't think that Mayweather's power would be enough to keep Golovkin honest.
Floyd would have to fight a near perfect fight and avoid that left hook like the plague, which he can do, but it's no guarantee. Its an intriguing fight, but I'd rather see him fight Pacquaio. That would be still be one the most significant fights in boxing history.
I would not recommend Golovkin moving down in weight.

ARe we doing a complete analysis or are we only going to focus on the advntages GGG has and judge the potential fight from that angle? WOuld his pucnh output drop? would his lack of defense cause problems?
GGG would have a good chance to win IMO. I'm just asking that any analysis look at both fighters strengths and weaknesses.

Any analysis of a potential fight should discuss both strengnths and weaknesses of each fighter. How ggg maintains his stamina at 154 while chasing/moving more than he ever has needed to secure a win is a question I think factors in to any discussion of a potential fight.

I don't think the size advantage would be that great for Golovkin but this would be a dangerous fight for Mayweather. I know people are saying Mayweather wouldn't be able to hold up to Golovkin's pressure and punching power but a better question would be how would Golovkin react to Mayweather's speed and defense. Once he sees how fast Mayweather is and how hard he is to hit, will he be just as determined as he was against Stevens, Rosado, and everyone else. Or would he get frustrated like the rest. Mayweather is a bad style match up for anyone including Golovkin. I have to say he has way more flaws than Mayweather IMO. One thing Mayweather is good at is nullifying his opponents best assets. You've seen it before, insert name here looks great in most or all their fights until he gets in the ring with Mayweather. That isn't a coincidence. Mayweather's skill is just at a different level. At the end of the day if Mayweather is able to stay upright, and they're 45 reasons to say he will; he should be able to beat Golovkin. Although it would be very dangerous for him every second of every round.

Second, its interesting to talk about and its a shame that we can't ever have intelligent talk about big name fighters without troll, cry babies and detractors.
Bye now.
