I like Pacquiao a lot, but I have to speak my piece about this fight.

Pacquiao is a herky jerky fireball. He's so frenetic, always in motion and moves well. The two issues I see with him now (that Mayweather would exploit) are his tendency to drop his hands and get hit with counters when attacking along with his mindset now after a couple of losses and the things going on in his life.

Manny has always had a problem getting hit by good counter-punchers. JMM is the best example. He figured Pacquiao out by the fourth fight and started timing him. I've never seen Manny hurt like he was after the first knockdown, and even though he seemed to turn the fight, he ran into a devastating punch. Between that, his family life, and political aspirations, I just don't know if he still has the warrior mentality that propelled him to do great things in the sport.

The fight against Rios will tell us a lot about Pacquiao. I'd be surprised if he lost, but this is certainly no gimme. If he looks good, expect the Mayweather talk to begin anew.

Floyd does a lot of things great, and I cannot find any weakness in him. Manny's best bet would be to just do his thing and hope it works against Floyd. If Floyd figures him out, can he adjust and change his fight plan? That remains to be seen. I think Manny does well early, but Floyd gradually takes control and wins a close, but undisputed, decision.

Another few posts like this and he'll be included in the BWAA and casting his vote for Manny as Fighter of the Decade with his homeboys ronnie and ryan.

In all seriousness to OP, Manny is the only guy at WW that JMM could put to sleep. Says a lot about his chances against Floyd.

        Agree with your points.

Mayweather said Pacquiao needs to get past Marquez and Bradley before having a chance to fight him. So the bs will continue no matter what.

Agree with some of your points, but your focus is on Pacquiao's flaws. He have some tools too. Angles attack, combinations, big left, stamina.
how are these tools gonna work against mayweather? they won't. first of all pac needs a good crisp jab (to off set mayweather) which he doesn't have. coming in at different angles, shooting a left (thats not set up behind a jab) or anything besides 2 faints will become predicable to mayweather after 2 rounds & he will proceed to pick pac off.

if you're shooting a left and it's not set up or disguised by anything (like a jab) it's gonna become too predictable & mayweather will figure it out after 2 rounds. some of you guys sell mayweather way short...........like he's a bum or something.

I think the post should be titled - manny WAS the only guy who could have beat Floyd.

This ain't the same manny of yesteryear. Floyd ducked the prime manny. Manny would not win against Floyd now.

I am a fan of both and would still love to see the fight but it just doesn't have the same appeal it once did and it would be a clear win for Floyd.

Manny doesn't need a crisp jab. He has the main tool, he used it against Oscar the lead left and side step and coming back with quick counters.

The lead left from the southpaw stance is what caused Floyd trouble, Floyd sr even knows this. This would have been the best version of Pacman to use against Floyd, Floyd is flat footed and will mainly jump back, but he comes forward either covering up or in his shoulder stance, Pac moves too much for Floyd to get a good flow going with him, its why when Cotto jumped on his toes and popped the left he was hitting Floyd, Floyd needs flat footed guys so he can time them and its easier for him to take a chance with one shot and get out because unlike prime Pacquiao, most of those guys will throw predictable combos. Pacman needs a guy who will counter him with more than one punch and doesn't cover up, marquez fights nothing like Floyd, Floyd is a spot fighter and he covers up, never cover up with Manny, he is an intruder trying to break down the door and he will never stop trying, watch the Clottey fight, Clottey thought Pac would tire out but he didn't, Clotteys strategy of letting guys punch themselves out on his double guard didn't work.

Indeed, Pacquiao is not known for a great jab. But he was doing great with the jab against Marquez IV.

And i don't get you final line. I'm not selling Mayweather short. I'm just saying people only focus in Pacquiaos flaws when it comes to talk about a possible Mayweather fight....

Truth is- manny has a good of shot as anyone to beat floyd...

that being said it would still be a 75/25 fight in favor of floyd...

If manny got outboxed by morales and jmm, then there can be no doubt that floyd would be able to outbox and control manny,,,

Manny has a punchers chance for sure, and has more of a chance of beating floyd than khan, garcia, bradley and alexander have,, but still, i just dont see manny beating floyd, especially after being put to sleep,,, he wasnt just knocked out, he was put to sleep,,, i have never seen a fighter literally put to sleep late in their career and then go on to continue to have dominant success,, maybe if manny was still in his 20s but not in the mid 30s with like 60 plus fights and dozens of wars,,,,

Valid point, Dominibox, but Mayweather always seems to exploit flaws. I personally don't see how Pacquiao would get past that. He's my favorite and all, but Mayweather is just that damn good.
