Stevenson was a scumbag.. we get it. Nobody respect what he did outside the ring all those years ago.. but I feel that we are letting our justified hatred of his character cloud our boxing judgement and analysis in terms of his actual abilities and achievements
So many of us mocked his Dawson win.. saying Dawson was shot, but yet that fight was back at 175..... and it wasn't just the win but how Stevenson won.. Stevenson literally one shot Kayoed Dawson.. now Cloud is another 'bum' after Stevenson schooled him for every single second of that fight up until making Cloud quit.. Once again.. it's not just the wins but how Stevenson is doing it.. he have dominated more than Koralev in my honest opinion and no matter how much I despise him for his past behaviors I will not let that influence any boxing assessments in regards to his skills and abilities.
The truth of the matter is.. I really do believe that if it was Koralev who knocked out Dawson with one punch thrown or if it was Koralev who dominated Cloud until making him quit.. than the praises will come flying in...
If it was Stevenson who dominated Cleverly.. than Cleverly becomes another shot bum.
I just feel that a lot of us are using our hatred of Stevenson in unfairly down playing his boxing.. This guy is the real deal and is a true threat to Koralev, Hopkins or anyone in the 168-175 divisions.
Let's hate him for his past but let's give him some just dues for his boxing.
