Putting Golovkin's name in the same sentence with Mayweather is an insult to boxing

With Golovkin's Amatuer resume, size and record in title fights, I don't see any reason why he would not be a serious threat to beat Floyd at 154.

In fact. I don't think Floyd would go anywhere near that fight.

I don't see how Mayweather needs to go to middleweight. Why? He was super-featherweight champion. Let him clear out 140-154. Then, in a year, if GGG takes out Stevens, Martinez, Quillin, then let the two meet. (If they can. Mayweather will be way past prime and the weight difference may be too much as well).
Indeed. Mayweather is a world champion at 154, and this is the weight at which Golovkin has said he is willing to fight him. Golovkin is a world champion at 160 and widely recognised as the best current MW.

I fail to understand why Golovkin simply saying he'd like this fight is so offensive to some. GGG has not even offered a challenge, whereas plenty of fighters throw out far more out outrageous challenges (Stevens, anyone?).

Mayweather's a great fighter, probably the best of the era, but to act as if he's some god who is above being even mentioned by another champion just seems a little bizarre to me.

Calling out an ATG whose best weight is two divisions below you is an act of cowardice.

Did GGG "call out" Mayweather? Meaning did he dog him? No GGG said he would take on anyone from 154-168, and he was respectful while doing so.

Is Hopkins a coward for saying that he would meet Mayweather at 160? No. Of course not.

You are being dishonest. GGG is not seen as the best MW. Sergio is, despite HBO throwing him under the bus to push GGG. If floyd is going to fight at MW it will be for 1 of 2 reasons-lineal title or money. GGG is not the champ nor brings the money.

Its not offensive, but its disingenuous. GGG is a HBO fighter at MW, floyd, when ggg raised the notion of fighting him, was a showtime fighter at ww. We get it, ggg wants the money a floyd fight brings and HBO knows the press will eat up a call out for floyd. It also makes people not focus on a ward ggg fight which is much easier to make, but clearly threatens the push HBO is givng GGG. It also reduces HBO marquee roster by 1.

No one is acting like he can't be challenged. Most posters are just asking people to validate their call for GGG v floyd. It would be refreshing if a poster was just honest and said I want to see floyd get KTFO, GGG is the closest to ww who has shown immense power, I think he likely KO's floyd, so I want them to fight.

WHy is that so hard to admit?

I think Hopkins was joking and the ESPN article were the K2 CEO said Golovkin wanted Floyd and it was possible was cowardly. Can Floyd start saying he wants to fight Omar Figueroa? It's just depressing that Golovkin behaves like this.

So the chump mayweather could finally step it up and fight Golovkin and prove the TS right. But no no, that's too big a risk, right? He ducked Pac and Margarito, what makes you think he would fight a beast like GGG?

Floyd doesn't take risky fights. It would ruin his unbeaten record real fast.
