Would a Floyd loss tonight be a bigger upset than Douglas/Tyson?

Not even close. Most sports books were not even taking bets. That tells you how much of an underdog Douglass was.
The only reason the fight happened was because Don King wanted to host a fight in Asia and needed someone they though Tyson would have a spectacular knockout against.
Canelo has been a star for a few years now. Douglass could have walked down any street in America the day before the fight and would not have been recognized.

Well, at least one person did. Buster Douglas. He wasn't beaten before he even entered the ring. And his self-belief mattered, and ultimately helped shape the result.

Same self-belief helped Holyfield beat Tyson when no one gave him a chance in heck to get anything other than KTFO.

10-1, 20-1 odds were being thrown around at my job. Was working construction and there were lots of people betting on fights. Even at 10 and 20-1 odds no one was biting. Who would be so "******" as to bet against Tyson against an unknown.

There's no comparison really, Floyd is getting older and people are talking about his age. Tyson was in his absolute prime when he lost and no one, I repeat no one, saw it coming.
Except for Tim May, he saw it coming.

Tbh, I don't think Douglas thought he'd win to begin with. He had just had the loss of his mother as far as I can remember and was determined to put up a show.

Obviously his confidence grew through the fight, but after the KD etc he didn't look that confident to me.

This fight wouldn't even be considered much of an upset. You have a 42-0 kid who is massive with a big punch fighting a 36 year old. Guys gets old overnight. Mares losing was a bigger upset then this would be.

Not even remotely close. Floyd losing to like, Hank Lundy would compare.

No chance, Buster was the biggest surprise upset I can think of, other than Lewis vs Rahman. Nobody even knew Douglas til that win.

This topic should not have even been created and is a waste of time. One look at the odds for tonight's fight and a Wikipedia on Tyson/Douglas would show this is not even remotely close.
