This last Saturday highly regarded (WBA/WBO #5 and WBC #12) European middleweight champion Max “Tiger” Bursak (27-1, 12 KOs) made a successful defense of his continental regalia, outpointing lanky British challenger Prince Arron over twelve rounds in Monaco. Despite a wide scoring (116-109, 117-108 and 119-106) Bursak wasn’t quite content with his recent performance.
“I’m not satisfied. Lots of work to be done in the gym with my head coach Sergey Gorodnichev. I wished to stop him [Arron], so I was overcharged to make a final touch and looked for a kayo instead of boxing. This was my biggest mistake. My opponent had surprised me, and I had underestimated Arron. That was bad. Arron is an experienced lad, good on his feet, utilizing his stature. This fight wasn’t easy in any way. I’m not planning to rest. As soon as I recover from the latest bout I’ll be back to the gym”, said Bursak, 29.
