Comments Thread For: Paulie Malignaggi: Girls Have Hit Me Harder Than Broner!

Adrien Broner became a champion in his third different weight class, beating Paulie Malignaggi by a split decision to take the World Boxing Association welterweight title. Two judges gave the fight to Broner by scores of 117-111 and 115-113, while the third saw Malignaggi a 115-113 winner. Broner, also the reigning World Boxing Council lightweight champion, improved to 27-0 after stepping up two weight divisions to fight Malignaggi in his hometown of Brooklyn, New York.

Malignaggi, nine years older than his opponent at age 32, fell to 32-5 and complained about the most lopsided judge's decision against him and he says Broner is not a hard puncher at 147 - and he should probably move back down in weight.

On the contrary, if Paulie says you hit like a girl, that's a major insult.

It's not that Paulie has such a great chin, it's his ability to not get hit with clean shots. He manages to pull or turn his chin away at the last second. That's also why the doesn't hit hard. He's never in a position to land hard shots because he always pulling away.

while i agree that broner wasn't crafty enough to land flush on paulie, when he's been hit flush in the past he has shown a great chin.

Paulie's quote about his legs is true. A younger Malignaggi would have nabbed a wide UD over Broner. Ultimately he was just a bit too past it to sustain what he started. With that said, Paulie knows damn well that he shouldn't be criticizing anybody's power.

What? Paulie has a granite chin. Cotto broke his jaw and he kept fighting. He's got one of the best chins at 147. How else could he have that type of punching power and be at this level for so long?
