Why are people saying Canelo will walk down Trout?

Because he's patient enough to do it, and Trout was on his bike vs Cotto, who's smaller and less powerful than Canelo. Canelo's boxing skills and defense are underrated. Trout's only chance on paper is to outbox Canelo, but you'll see even that will be hard, because Canelo is not some come forward brawler who will get ******. The guy is very smart and patient and really picks his punches. Canelo has a puncher's chance to win and also can outwork and beat Trout in a boxing match, so he can win two ways. Call me crazy [about Canelo's boxing skills] but you'll see when Trout is befuddled and can't keep Canelo off of him when he finds out his boxing skills are not good enough for Canelo.

As much as I like Canelo (and I am a fan) - I too believe this fight will be very challenging. IMO, I think Trout will be in the best of condition physically and mentally. Canelo is a massive block of power and decent (at best) boxing ability. Trout has movement and is relatively quicker. If he has a game plan, and sticks to it, I wouldn't be surprise if he pulled off the win. However, if Canelo catches him and slows Trout down, it's going to be a dangerous situation for Trout.

Does Canelo have Power? - Purely my observation, if you even notice how Canelo punches, he punches with his whole body behind it. He pivots and uses his hips to turn his upper body. Technically, the torque he generates from his planted feet generates the power. It was a scary thing to see when he fought Mosley.

I for one, believe it won't be easy for canelo. I've witnessed canelo's skills, timing, power and combinations, but I have yet to see from any of his opponents before that its going to be easy for him this saturday night. You can't compare josesito to trout, or mosley or hatton or all the other ww and jmw he fought. The talent is there, but I don't know why they say it'll be easy for canelo. Trout proved more when he outboxed cotto, considering it was more or less the same cotto floyd fought and had a little tough time with.

This is a 50-50 fight for me. And big credit to the winner.

He looked physically more powerful than his older opponent but Im not sure he is the ****er we are being led to belive. Shane was an old man coming of losses and moving up in weight but for many rounds he took the fight to Canelo. Shane was never taken off his feet in the whole 12 rounds or seriously hurt so I think if Canelo was a ****er he should have been putting older smaller men away or atleast putting them down.

His technique is good as you say but he needs to get set beofre he punches so movers will give him trouble. Matt Hatton ran around all night and got through 12 but couldnt do anymore. What if he meets someone who can avoid him for 12 but do something about it aswel? Trout can move but he may be able to pick up the rounds too because Alvarez will be plodding forward but not pulling the trigger beofre Trout has got his shots off.

I think its a fight of 2 halves. Trout will deserve the decision but whether he gets it is a different story.

Yea but Trout is not gonna let him set his feet tho. Not with the way Trout fights.

Canelo doesn't walk his opponents down and doesn't even use a jab when he attempts to pressure. If you want to see a pressure fighter look at how effectively lucas and GGG will cut off the ring and use their jab to get to their opponent. Canelo does none of that. I don't see how Canelo will even get close to Trout here and I see a possibility of a canelo getting stopped based on cuts and swelling. I see Trout teeing off on Canelo the whole fight. The speed diffrence will be apprent right from the opening bell and Trout will force Canelo to fight for the full 3 minutes of each round no more punching bag welterweights here.

For all the tlak about Canelo punching power, Shane MOsley stood right in front of him for the full 12 rounds (yes he did get smahsed) but he went the distance fighting him. matthew Hatton went the full 12, ryan Rhodes took him 12 (bad stoppage), I will admit he's heavy handed but I don't see a one shot KO artist and that's what he'll need Saturday.

Bad fight for Canelo and bad style for him I don't see how he wins more than 4 rounds to be honest.

I think Canelo is much faster and stronger than Trout is personally. Mosley has never been stopped by anyone, not Wright (who beat him to a pulp), Pac, Mayweather, Cotto, no one. So not getting stopped by Canelo is nothing new. Baldomire, yes a way past prime one, had never been stopped, Canelo stopped him. Lopez, yes a smaller guy, had never been stopped before and Canelo stopped him.

You also have to remember the dude is like 22 years old. He is learning on the job and the Hatton fight was 2 years ago which is a fairly long time in terms of a professional boxer's development and career advancement, especially considering a young kid who came on to the pro scene pretty green.

Canelo has 5 TKOs/KO's out of his last 6 fights which is an indication that his finishing capabilities are growing stronger with each fight.

If Canelo gets Trout along the ropes like Cotto was able to do, he'll hit Trout with a 5 or 6 punch combination before the dude knows what even hit him. This isn't Delvin Rodriguez or a faded Cotto in front of him, this is a young, hungry kid with a ton of potential.

This right here tells the whole story. In early 2012 Cotto was a damn beast. After Trout beat him he was shot. But to put things into perspective, Cotto while older is still more seasoned and far more well rounded than canelo. I don't see how canelo just "gets" to be better than Cotto when he's done nothing or accomplished anywhere near as much as Miguel.

Yes Cotto hit Trout, but he also hit Floyd. So because Cotto was seasoned enough to hit them, doesn't mean canelo can. Anyhow I cannot wait for Saturday. May the best man win.

I'll give Canelo the benefit of the doubt. He simply hasn't really needed to cut off the ring and effectively walk down his opponents because of how lackluster they were. Trout is gonna force him to put his tools on display.
