Comments Thread For: Oner Says Inactivity a Big Issue For Odlanier Solis

Berlin, Germany - Arena Box Promotion and Ludus Pugilato joined forces for a show at the Universal Hall with the main bouts televised by EuroSport and what shaped as a semi-interesting show on paper became very interesting as the evening progressed.

Heavyweight Odlanier Solis was expected to stop big Leif "El Vikingo" Larsen early but it became a tough fight where Larsen forced the action, missed with most of his power punches but while Solis would stun his opponent with his exellent counters he failed to follow up on them and failed to put punches together in combínations. As it was, Solis won a unanimous decision after twelve on scores of 116-112, 115-114 and 117-111 to retain the IBF I/C title.

It wasn't as bad a poor performance by Solis as people say. Larson is technically terrible. Nevertheless, he is a big, tough guy with a lot of power. It's not as easy a task as people think, especially when you lack power, as Solis does, and are fighting in a sardine can of a ring.

Solis took the 0 of an undefeated beast with brutal punching power. He epitomizes today's heavyweight division. Odlanier Solis, boxingscene salutes you!!!

get him back in the ring asap! let's have an all cuban matchup...solis vs juan carlos gomez or get him & chagaev fighting for the IBF I\C title next. chagaev can only fight in germany so have it there.

He is a professional fighter! He's meant to be one of the worlds top athletes. Excusing obesity and lazy, poor performances among our top athletes is the norm in the heavyweight division at the moment.

Guys like this are a disgrace. It just shows where things are at that what was genuinely a club/journeyman level showing was supposedly a fight between two top rated guys....or at least one top rated, title challenger.

Inactivity+weight+motivation are big issues for Solis. I doubt he will ever get rid of the last 2 issues though. You can put a fork into Solis. What a shame. one of the biggest wasted talents ever.

Solis' nutritionist must have had him prep by setting new figures every day in one of those "all you can eat for $10" joints. Even by today's regular standards of street obesity the Cuban is one morbid blubberball. Shame on him. He has REAL ability.
