Comments Thread For: Marquez Not Surprised if Mayweather Rejects Guerrero

Juan Manuel Marquez has no argument with the popular opinion that Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the best pound for pound fighter in the sport, but he doesn't believe the talented fighter takes any risks. He points to his own fight with Mayweather in 2009. Marquez was moving up from 135-pounds to face Mayweather at catch-weight of 144. Instead, Mayweather weighed in at 146 and because of that he paid Marquez a fine of $600,000.

During a televised appearance in Mexico, Marquez discussed the situation with Mayweather being heavily rumored to defend his WBC welterweight crown against mandatory challenger Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero on May 4th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

No lies said here by Marquez.

Would Mayweather go up in weight 11 pounds to fight someone? That's unheard of for Mayweather.

Marquez is completely right. Mayweather cant fight guys like Guerrero and Manny type fighters. He can predict them or defend himself. This is why he ducked the entire WW division when he faked his retirement in the middle of his prime. He only looks good with fighters that let him look good and dont apply pressure. Guerrero will be non stop....And how MAnny PAcquiao fights is a no brianer to avoid him at all cost. To much activity in the ring.

Dude, no one in boxing has fought more bigger guys than Floyd. He was routinely outweighed by alot in his fights and naturally the much smallest fighter

So Marquez doesn't consider himself a risk to Floyd?

He just mad that Mayweather humiliated him in front a whole bunch of Mexicans when Floyd fought him.

Floyd took plenty of risk,he fought Diego Corrales when Corrales was undefeated and ko`ed everybody left and right,He took on Castillo twice,He signed to fight Zab Judah when Zab was coming off of a win over a prime Cory Spinks and that fight was considered dangerous for Floyd before Zab lost to baldomir,Floyd also took on a much bigger Delahoya with no catchweights and Floyd came in at 150 while Oscar came in weighing in his mid to late 160`s minimum. He took on Cotto with no catchweights. While Marquez moved up and asked Pacquiao and Mayweather for catchweights and avoided Amir Khan when Khan challenged him.
