Mikkel Kessler's manager and advisor Allan Back, speaking to Danish network Sporten, fired back at unified super middleweight champion Andre Ward. krikya360.com ran a recent article and video interview with Ward, where the boxer said he "lost all respect" for Kessler - stating the Danish boxer created excuses to explain his technical decision loss when they faced each other in the Super Six. Back says Ward is wrong when he says Kessler is lying about several headbutts that occurred in their 2009 encounter in Oakland, California:
"If we take the main issues about the headbutts, that Ward calls accidental, and the boring style, you just have to look at the fight and ask yourself if it's not spoiling and boring when he clinches 88 times", Back says and continues.
