Comments Thread For: Mikey Garcia Stays Focused Despite Title Letdowns

By Jake Donovan - It hasn’t been an easy few months for Mikey Garcia. The unbeaten featherweight contender has watched two title shots go south, for reasons far beyond his control. Having waited more than a year for his mandatory title fight to come to fruition, Garcia will now have to wait just a few months longer.

A consolation prize is offered in an HBO showcase appearance this weekend. After watching separate fights with Celestino Caballero and Orlando Salido fall through, Garcia (29-0, 25KO) now faces former title challenger Jonathan Barros in the HBO-televised co-feature Saturday evening in Las Vegas. Mikey has to stay doing what he has been doing and take care of business this weekend. He shouldn't be listening ppl saying that he doesn't have a killer instinct and that he also should be more aggressive.

He fights very similar like his brother used to fight but Mikey is more technical

Mikey's got serious skills, but if he wins tomorrow I don't understand why him vs. Salido would be in PR. The perfect landing spot for that fight would be Home Depot Center IMO, 8,000 seat capacity with a good supporting fight would probably fill the place.
