He hasn't fought real talent, that is true, but he's been very active.
He fought 39 times in 5 years, between autumn 2006 and winter 2011.

He seems more comfortable as a brawler, but showed that he can box to a certain extent.

He has way more potential and dedication than Chavez Jr. Only time will tell whether he is for real. I would not bet all my money on it, but would not entirely discard the possibility either.

I disagree about him beating Floyd, although Mayweather did not look physically at his best against Cotto, even that less mobile version of Floyd can outbox and outsmart young Canelo.

Against Manny, I think Canelo wins.

People forget that Bradley fought Manny with a broken foot, and in spite of an obviously limited mobility, still managed to create problems and win a (contested) split decision.

I doubt Manny can outbox Canelo from the outside.
He's not as fast as he used to be, I don't think he'd be able to move in and out as he used to do a few years back.
He could try to counter punch, that might be his only chance, a rather thin chance from my perspective.

Thus it'd likely end up in a brawl that Canelo can, in my opinion, win.

You complain about Canelo receiving hate, but you represent the opposite end of the spectrum. You're showering with him with praise he hasn't even begun to earn yet, already counting the other LMWs out because he passed the eye test. Who's to say that he can't get hurt by a respectable LMW? Who's to say he can withstand a physically and mentally exhausting 12-round affair with a guy who refuses to wither under his power and combinations? He might be good enough that it will never come to that, but I think highly enough of the other LMWs to say that he won't just dominate them.

i guess you are new to boxing to think what canelo has done is some kinda of accomplishment

first of all canelo has not fought anybody of note in his own division. which is sad considering the bevy of worthy contenders. his best win is against ryan rhodes

fernando vargas by 22 years old beat
        campas to become a champion
raul marquez former champ and silver medalist
winky wright future hall of famer

floyd mayweather by 22 years old beat (i hate giving this guy credit)
genaro hernandez (future hall of hamer) to become a champion
        angel manfredy

there is others but those two are more recent examples of two guys in there early twenties becoming champion and fighting credible and top rank guys in there own division

the only thing canelo has done is become a belt holder and he has still not faced top ranked guys in his own division

canelo has 40+ fights, the wbc world champion and he hasn't fought any credible opponents...they have been blown up past their best and/or natural weight, and much older/past their prime...he should have started fighting credible opponents once he became champ, but he hasnt which is why the hate is justified...until he beats someone of note then i'll give him his props until then he's all hype to me.

Young man, other than being promoted very well, what has Alvarez accomplished? There's a reason GBP won't match this guy vs a live body. Numbers don't lie, 6 title fights and not one credible opponent yet.

And what names would those be? Dude, has some talent but he has yet to prove it, and he definitely has not earned the kind of acclaim that he has attained here. In his defense though, the hate is primarily in reaction to the typical cultural nut-huggers that hold his jock like he is the second coming or some shiet.

                  chava sanchez and wilfred benitez

                  mike tyson, too.

but i agree, canelo is a very solid fighter with a ton of promise. the "hate" comes from the fact that the guys here don't understand boxing because this is the first generation of fighters they've seen. boxing IS matchmaking.

most mexican boxers have alot of fights on thier resume by the time they are recognized give him time, they are being careful with him which is good and bad but i understand it! kirkland and williams were both decent but unfortunate things happend.... hes not hype and is getting better give it time the dude was born in 1990!

i want to see him vs lara though! who u got winning that?

The fact he was wobbled by Jose Cotto is worrysome. J. Cotto is a crap fighter, you ever seen him live?

I'm sure he's gotten better, but J. Cotto is a much smaller fighter then Miguel. Chins don't improve....
