Yup. Search it up in the Google Play Store.

A kid like Robeisy, just eighteen, would not have good odds of making it. Some of the other, much older, Cubans that defected weren't able to adjust to the differences in free living: too many distractions, too many temptations, not enough discipline, etc.
Yup, when they are over there their mentally is "How bad could it be. It's the states!" But once they get here they're in for a rude awakening.

Haha Idk the way he was smiling, he had a cheesy grin from ear to ear coming to his first fight and I couldn't help but laugh. And then you got him doing push ups. Most 18 year olds IMO might turn timid while in front of the big stage but you could tell this dude is an entertainer. A what we call "clown" .

Couldn't be worse than that chick Shields tho. **** was just plain weird.

It's all good bro, we'll get back up there soon enough. Savon could've gotten Gold IMO if he hadn't been robbed. Overall I don't think Cuba did too bad, we got what 14 medals total? 4 in boxing.

Maybe defend his gold medal in Rio and turn pro after that. I would hate to see him in a situation where he's still fighting at the amateur level into his late 20's and then enters a Rigo/Lara type of situation where your in your prime years and have so few pro fights under your belt.
That I would hate to see. Too much great Cuban potential has been left to rot on the vine over decades. Decades! My sincere hope is that guys like Robeisy and Roniel make it to the U.S. before their best years are behind them. Given how well fighters like Gamboa, Rigondeaux and Lara have performed, I can imagine how young Cuban boxers brought up under the pro system might fare.

Like the song says: "It's been a long time coming, but I know a change is gonna come."

Cuba did extremely well, and it wasn't even a great Olympics for us. The only other nation with a smaller population that won more medals was Hungary. (Eleven million and fourteen medals versus ten million and seventeen medals.) Hungary sent 173 athletes to the games, while Cuba sent 123. The Hungarians seem to specialize in water sports. They won six medals in Canoeing/Kayaking, and three in swimming.

I'd like to mention one Cuban athlete outside of boxing: Mijain Lopez won his second straight gold medal in the super-heavyweight division in Greco-Roman wrestling. The four-time world champion is only the third wrestler to ever accomplish this feat in that weight class. I'm not a big MMA guy, but Mijain is a monster. He'd probably do very well in UFC, if he can learn (or already knows) some effective striking.

Cuba didn't send a volleyball team this year did they?

Haha imagine that, Cubans defecting to join UFC. I wonder if they know about it over there.

No, they didn't. The women's team was the best in the world for a while. They won Olympic gold in '92, '96 and 2000. They won a Bronze in '04, but didn't medal in 2008. This year, they simply didn't qualify. The program is apparently going downhill. lol

Oh, I'm sure they know about it. Ironically enough, I found this on Wikipedia: "On October 18, 2010 Mijain Lopez was rumored to have defected and be training in Miami for MMA..." lol

Have you seen Lopez? He's considered the most dominant wrestler in the world. Mijain's a freakin' beast: 6' 4", 265 lbs, solid muscle.

Im not really into Greco Roman cause its freaking weird but the other day I tuned in and it was on and it was a Cuban fighting but I'm not sure who it was so Idk if I seen him lol.

But yea, this year I heard US and Japan were the favorites in women's volleyball and it just hit me. I was like wtf where's our team... Times have changed. Not only is the place getting worse but one of the few things we have to pride ourselves in are going downhill, the olympic programs.
