Good response dawg..Because that was truly a dumbazz comment. He must want the fight game to be like those rocky movies. Not that mayweather hasnt persevered thru fights with various injuries, but when you have the overall skill set he possesses, you dont need to take unnecessary shots. There is such a concept as DEFENSE. Boxing is actually a sport (when done propperly). Anybody can swing wildly or just flail punches. Ortiz got his jaw broken b/c he lacks stamina and DEFENSE. One of the 1st lessons you're taught is to tuck your chin and breath thru your nose. At the time he got clocked, Ortiz had his head up and his mouth wiiiide open...So geah, that won't happen to mayweather..Not bc of any exchanges but bc he is fundamentally sound. The best PURE boxer this sport has seen since '96. Now back to lopez/ortiz. Why the hell was floyd's name mentioned in this thread/post anyway.

I already said why he has PPV sells. And he hasn´t lost due to robberies. JL Castillo won in their first fight. So did Oscar DLH, he used a cheapshot to defeat Ortiz and his fight vs Cotto was basically a tie. He ducked Margarito, Williams, Martinez, Pacman, etc. He is afraid of Alvarez now.

Its up to Ortiz if he felt he didnt want to coninue with a broken jaw. Not many people would chose to fight on with such an injury but the elite boxers tend to fight through it which is the point. Ortiz has a history of quitting and his decision to quit in this fight whilst ahead will haunt him. Vitali took similar stick when he was ahead and pulled out vs Byrd.

Mental fragility seems to be the worst trait to have. Abraham boxed on with a broken jaw and won and Danny Williams won with a dislocated shoulder. That was in a small hall show at domestic level on an undercard too so Ortiz who was topping the bill and on the verge of a massive fight knew the importance but didnt think he could go the final 3 rounds. Disapointed but it reveals alot about the character.

Ortiz looks like he wants to fight and gets angry when the fight is stopped.

Dude thats called the "Zab Judah". Its when a fighter wants to quit but he can't outright do it because he will look like a wimp. He gives every sign that he wants to quit without saying it(not answering the refs questions properly and keeps mentioning the problem/ excuse that he feels should stop the fight). Than when the fight is finished he can put on his acting skills and pretend thats not what he wanted all along.

Yeah, the fight was awesome, definitely a fight of the year candidate, considering the year's not over, but for me, to this day, this is the fight of the year.

No disrespect to Lopez but this fight defines boxing... Ortiz was a fraud, an average fighter given superstar status based on one fight against another unproven fighter (Berto)... Ortiz QUIT against Maidana and hadn't did anything since to deserve a Mayweather fight... He was a fraud and true boxing fans knew it and Mayweather knew it and he made a bunch of money of these easily fooled fans... Ortiz is who he is a solid B plus fighter with some pop... He was crowned relevant after a good win against Berto but what people didn't realize was Berto's biggest win to date was a life or death battle with Luis Collazo... Ortiz should be fighting guys like Lopez, not Mayweather... Thank you Lopez for reminding people that in order to be a top fighter you need to string together a streak of 4 to 5 good fights and not pull a Buster Douglas....
