    JuanMa Lopez' Defense

Why was he trying to take a page from Floyd's book and go in to a philly shell shoulder roll?..

He's a southpaw fighting a right hander and that right hand lines up every time, I don't understand why he would even attempt that style, on top of that he doesn't have the upper body/head movement to even use it effectively..

Props to Salido, for proving it wasn't a fluke the first time around and didn't let the judges or Arum rob him, best fight I've seen in a while!..

another side note..SMH @ JuanMa after the ref clearly favored him through out the fight and kept warning Salido, he still had the nerve to say the ref jobbed him?!..

Yeah, I saw the ref doing the hometown lean a bit, and then to have JuanMa throw him under the bus afterwards, that was just low.

He's overrated bro. I'm PR and have been saying it for years. Once he got in w/ a guy who simply tougher than him he'd get stopped over and over again. Very one dimensional and he decides this fight to be a Boxer puncher w/ no defense. Props to Salido, he brought it to Juan Ma practically the entire fight.

And people wanted Gamboa vs Juan Ma??? God damn that would've been bad.

I agree but the problem is much deeper than that. He lacks a brain and he doesn't like to listen to instructions/advice. I was there last night and he kept brushing off the corner letting them know to shup up like "I got this watch". Yet 3 seconds later there he was in the ropes taking flush shots from Salido fighting Salidos fight.

Shame because Juanma is talented, he has skills. He just relied on brute force when he could be working on a solid jab and game where he waits for his opponent to commit and use his power to catch them as they come in. He could have a great boxing/offensive game. The perfect example was when he knocked Salido down, he caught him coming in and that's what he should focus on. Boxing and waiting for opponents to come to him hiding behind a jab and at least some sort of defense that involves his arms, not his head.

Cotto taught him the shoulder roll defense.

Honestly, are people noticing how many fighters with bad defense are doing this lately? It's always hilarious.

What defense? It looks like he went to the Paul Williams school of eating overhand hooks. (PWSO-E-OH)
