Comments Thread For: Martin Murray Rejects Andy Lee Offer, Eyes Bigger Purse

According to undefeated middleweight contender Martin Murray (23-0-1, 10KOs), promoter Lou DiBella needs to offer more money if he wants him to face Irish star Andy Lee (27-1, 19KOs) in Madison Square Garden on March 17th, as part of the undercard to Sergio Martinez's upcoming bout with Matthew Macklin. Lee's camp is focusing their attention on Murray after British boxer Darren Barker turned down an offer to fight. Murray is coming off a close points draw with WBA champion Felix Sturm and says he would be "confident of beating" Lee.

This is disappointing. Would have made a decent pick'em scrap. Andy Lee seriously needs to step up against a top 10 guy already. Maybe Dibella could bring in Proksa.

damnit! i don't blame him for not wanting to get picked apart by lee for a payday of probably around 100k. . . but still, lee needs to stay busy until he gets his martinez or sturm shot. . . chavez won't go near him. . . and more than likely sturm won't either. .

quillin would be a good, even fight. . . hopefully he can find a good, respectable opponent for the martinez/macklin co-main. . .
