As result of Vitali Klitschkos retirement Don King now promotes all major heavyweight belts and is planning an unification tournament which will result in one undisputed heavyweight champion (similar to the 1986 box-off that produced the youngest heavyweight champion in history Mike Tyson). In an interview with SecondsOut Don King said he will be inviting aged legends Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield to enter his tourney.

"I am interested in working with Mike again," King said. "Provided that he does the proper things in training. He's had some bad losses of late but there's no reason Mike Tyson cannot win the heavyweight title again. He is only 39, George Foreman, a man who has similar punching power, won the title back at age 45. If Mike can dedicate himself to training again and can (promise me) that he is able to do that then yes, I will give him a chance to create history all over again."

King added: "And Evander Holyfield has his licence back and he can be part of all this, too. He lost to Larry Donald who is a different kind of fighter but the 'Real Deal' can be a factor, too."

I really doubt whether Don King is saying this genuinly or whether he has an alterior motive.

Tyson sells. Its as simple as that. Is this a question of what is better for the fighter, or what is better for the pockets of Don King?

However, there is no denying that people would pay to watch Tyson Holyfield III, but i dont want to have to experience the same pain i went through when Tyson lost to McBride.

Quite simply, if Tyson wants to come back, you know the key? The key is to put him up against some fighters who are not 6'4 and who do not outweigh him by 10 stone. Ok, thats an exaggeration, but in my opinion Tyson has stepped up to these people at the wrong time. He was managed wrong, and his losses are a result of numerous jail sentences, unstable trainer situations and bad management.

I would only really say go for it, if Tyson was almost guaranteed a decent shot, with a 90% chance of winning back any belt of significance, such as this undisputed title offer, put forward by Don King. Otherwise, i say, keep out of the ring Mike.

I agree with you. And want to make a point I was thinking about just now. People always say Tyson never beat anyone. Well at least he had the guts to fight the best. Maybe he didn't beat Holyfield and Lewis, but he faught them. Tyson was a warrior, he faught everyone.

Yeah i think so too. But there is definetly some mis-management when it comes to Tyson. He fought these people, but he knew in his heart that he could'nt beat them. On another day, when he had less ring rust, then yes but at the times he fought Holyfield and Lewis, the tides were much more against him than what they would have been some 5 years earlier or so.

Tyson has been falling at a faster pace since Lewis spanked him and Holyfield's last win came when he beat Rahman is 2002.

King just wants them in the tournament to sell ppv's and tickets. Thier names would bring people to the first ppv and he is hoping maybe they will end up watching until one man is left standing. I mean really how much attention is he going to get with just the four title holders. Like it or not at least Vitali had people talking outside of boxing.
