Dresden gears up for Friday' all-heavyweight card
A press conference was held Monday at the Cafe Restaurant Luisenhof in Dresden for Friday's all-heavyweight card at the Energie Verbund-Arena.
In the headliner, recent world title challenger Francesco Pianeta (29-1-1, 16 KOs) meets Mickael Vieira (14-3-1, 7 KOs) for the WBO European belt. Also Steffen Kretschmann (17-2, 15 KOs) faces Özcan Cetincaya (21-8-2, 14 KOs) for the vacant International German belt, and 19-year-old Tom Schwartz (5-0, 3 KOs) completes in a four-man, one night Prizefighter-like tournament against Andre Bunga (1-1, 1 KO), Luke Filka (6-3, 5 KOs) and Ante Verunica (1-0, 1 KO).
Francesco Pianeta: I'm a calm person, am chilled. With my good preparation I will take this title. Then I will again be on my way toward my next world title fight. We worked hard on all areas. Vieira is a man who fights and is a good boxer without fear.
Mickael Vieira: You have to acknowledge with respect the performance of Francesco in recent fights. But, there's only one thing: I want this title.
SES Trainer Dirk Dzemski: Francesco has delivered a good performance in his last fight. I'm satisfied with his discipline and development. Things are continually moving further ahead.
Steffen Kretschmann: This is for me new pastures. A new trainer, a new training location and many new training methods. I noticed in this short time now, that I'm moving ahead. In the ring, I have to set the tone.
SES Trainer Stephan Kühne: Steffen is unquestionably a class boxer. He needs the experience of success and must believe in himself. He has implemented the training goals incredibly fast and he knows Cetincaya has to deal with him and not vice versa!
Tom Schwarz: It's a challenge to face such a tournament. But, I have big goals, and have the best skills with my quickness. I have to measure them, but when I see the KO, it will come!
Dirk Dzemski: I don't want to hear any more of this Tom the super talent. In recent weeks, I wasn't really satisfied with him. A tournament of this kind is not to be underestimated. It has completely new mental and physical demands and we have to wait to see how Tom handles it.
Promoter Ulf Steinforth: We are known to always be open to the new and the innovative an all-heavyweight night in Germany, a one night tournament, a new approach.
