Comments Thread For: Miguel Cotto: Chavez Fight is Something Attractive To Us

WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (37-2, 30KOs) is very interested in making boxing history by becoming the first fighter to win four titles in four weight divisions. Cotto's promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank has offered him a fight against WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (44-0-1, 31KOs).

Miguel, your Father would have wanted you to leave Top Rank immediately. Do it for your Father otherwise you hate him and wish to disgrace his memory.

This fight is a joke, Arum is just cashing Cotto out.

Chavez might suck but he'll be almost 25lbs heavier than Cotto. Cotto is better than Chavez all day but it'll be like him fighting a small light heavyweight if Chavez rehydrates to 185.

          This is sad

You better be collecting 15 millies to fight Chavez Jr. I see no scenario where Cotto beats Jr., hurts Jr. and/or makes it competitive.

If you aren't signing long term to Arum, he sees no reason not to buff up one of his name young studs at your expense. Just say no and shoot for someone like Pacquaio.

            Precisely the fight Cotto needs.

He will outbox Chávez Jr easily. One sided fight and he will be a 4 division champ.

General NSB consensus will fail like in Pac/Márquez III and Pac/DLH. Mark my words.

Did the writer of this article mean first Puerto Rican fighter to win titles in four divisions? Because the owner of this website congressman Manny Pacquaio has made a career of collecting paper belts and has doubled that total.

damn, no one has faith in Cotto?? It's chavez guys, not sergio martinez.

seriously, all the talk about how top rank is bad for cotto and all that, the truth is TR has done a tremendous job with cotto's career. I think that's the textbook example of how to promote someone (besides a few minor hickups).

And if the money is right, cotto has a chance to win a title in his fourth weight class. You don't get that kind of oppurtinity too often.

the only advantage Chavez has over Cotto is size

it is definitely winnable for Cotto
