    well Arum could be using Cotto to buy Chavez jr time.

    Martinez is Chavez' mandatory but Martinez can choose not to exercise that right. if Martinez fights Cotto at 154, it would give the WBC a great excuse to strip Martinez of the "Diamond Belt", thus eliminating Martinez' threat to Chavez.

    Chavez has many more years left to be milked, whereas Cotto is on his way out. Arum sacrifices Cotto in order to save Chavez.


    plus Martinez and Cotto do have a personal beef

      and if Martinez beats Cotto. it would put him in a great position to face Mayweather on May 5th

      letting Arum have more time to milk the Pacquiao gravy train.


      it all depends on the WBC. if they are serious about stripping Chavez we'll get to see Cotto vs Martinez, if not it's Cotto vs Chavez

            Cotto has problems wit pressure fighters that's it .. Sergio , canelo , nor Chavez are pressure fighters .. Cotto could beat all 3 .. Not saying he would definitely beat em but no doubt that he can

                I just hate the Chavez fight. I want to see Cotto not have to be on his toes for 12 rounds. You're talking about a full sized Middleweight against a natural WW.

                And is Chavez that terrible? He's good enough that the size advantage will matter. He's much more skilled than Margarito.

                This is the fight that will happen though no doubt in my mind. You might as well just pencil Chavez Jr./Cotto in for May or June.

                Top Rank will not make big fights outside of their company and it sucks.

                  Id like to see Cotto get a bit busier, take on Kirkland while he is hot, then Pacquaio again. IF he beats Manny (a BIG IF but it is a winnable fight) then he should face Money May (assuming the May vs Pac fight falls through again ) who would LOVE to beat the man who beat Pacquaio (he faced Marquez for this reason and he didnt even get the decision) After that close his career out with a big fight with Mexican Young Buck and superstar Saul Alvarez then if Chavez still has a belt move up to make History (DILUTED History!) in becoming PR'S first 4 weight champ

                  Then Retire having beaten every man he ever faced.....

                  Thats the dream scenario anyways!!!

                    Really...?! WTF ever happen to Rubio? He was mandatory before martinez! I say rubio vs chavez, cotto vs martinez! Winners fight each other & Canelo vs kirkland winner fights vanes! Someone tell cotto the Dr wont be there this time! Viva Mexico! Puro tijuana mis cabrones!

                      Chavez is nothing special , he is a big body but he is not a pressure fighter I think Cotto schools him .. If Chavez fought Margo would u pick Chavez to win ?? Idk
