Actually Terry Norris did that. Leonard came out of that retirement after a couple years for the one bout with Camacho.

Ive seen the vitali-lewis fightg multiple times. it was the fight that really got me into boxing. I think vitali did work early and was ahead by a round. lewis was coming on strong when the fight was stopped. lewis most definitley had the momentum and was rocking vitali. lets keep in mind the cut was from a punch lewis through, followed by a bunch more that opened vitali up.

also vitali did not take the fight on 2 weeks notice. There are interviews and vitali had been training specifically for lewis for over a year. lewis didnt know who he was fighting until a few weeks before. out of shape lewis> prime vitali.

Wait I remember Vitali retired the first time rather than fighting the mandatory Rahman, does Rahman get credit for that too?
You got jokes.. son? First of all... whomever Vitali can't be bothered with to fight such as Byrd or Rahman.. he sends his little brother out to clean up those little nuisances & pests who he beats with one good shoulder & glass jawed RAHMAN got mugged by Wlad.... Vitali always destroys the power hitters more than Wlad does..... as for Lewis.... look at the state of his boxing license... it never went up for renewal after he went Vitali.. Lennox is the only champion in history to have won his last bout & gotten booed out of the arena when the verdict was in & retire in shame after a W.... THAT'S ALL you need to know about how he went out.

Vitali is the ONLY fighter in history to have his 2 sole losses recognized with him being the REAL winner of both fights he lost... both those bouts he was dominating & if boxing wasn't so corrupt & legit.. both fights SHOULD HAVE WENT TO THE SCORECARDS (that's right you heard me)... instead of being AUTOMATICALLY RULED TKO losses on his records... only thing technical about those losses is the 2 beatdowns he was administering at the time of the stoppages winning 12 of the 15 rds fought in the eyes of all the judges.... kapish!

Please... what a lame statement... truth be told Vitali bothers to train FOR every fighter whether they are Joe Schmo or an alltime great fighter who you can't say the same about. Vitali got the same heads up as Lewis did... if anything the recognized Lineal champ is the one that is supposed to set the precedence as to how to act like a REAL champion by being properly inshape no matter who the opponent is..... instead it was the recognized quitter & Wbo beltholder/giver that was acting like the real champion & fought that way until a gash had to slow down his performance & trust me guys.... no gash... no belt around LL after the bout.. Vitali NEVER in his career has let someone off the hook after he was beating them down...

THE pattern is ALWAYS a sustained & prolonged beatdown.. only thing that made LL the exception was a cut that saved him... a cut is what stopped the fight... Vitali was ready & willing to go on... most of y'alll act like LL made Vitali submit & actually Tko'ed him... he did no such thing..

. LEWIS WAS JUST AS or more physically spent.... cosmetics & looks is what gave LL his W... THAT VERDICT WAS STRICTLY DECIDED BY THE APPEARANCE OF A FIGHTER & NOT BY HOW HE performed in the bout.... LL was physically damaged goods after the fight... just like any of Vitali's beatdown victims... face all swollen & puffy... broken nose... but everyone was too busy focused on the face of Vitali to notice how beat up LENNOX REALLY WAS...

VITALI LANDED NEARLY 60 MORE BLOWS TO LL'S HEAD than what was landed on him.... you don't think LENNOX felt every one of those hammer shots from Vitali... he surely remembered them enough not to want to go through that again even for 30 million dollars... Vitali was willing to go through ALL OF THAT AGAIN... knowing that he nearly had his eye bone/meat dangling from his face.... Most FIGHTERS wouldn't even think about potentially going through something like that again... afterall Vitali did get LENNOX's BELT from Corrie Sanders... SO he didn't even have to long for LEWIS BUT wanted him anyways because Vitali viewed LENNOX AS THE BEST & he viewed himself as better & WANTED to show it to the world..

LENNOX was afraid of that last part... he knew if he went out with that gift W... the perception that Vitali was so much better than him would go unproven in the public's eye. Lennnox as so it happened met his match & then some on the very last day he ever fought... He went through his entire career thinking he was the best even when he lost to Mccall & RAHMAN... in his mind it was flukes.... that night in Staples Center was no fluke... LENNOX got the beatdown of a lifetime & he KNOWS it.. everyone at Staples Center & watching Hbo saw it as well... so keep lying to yourselves.. haters...... this is the truth & nothing but the truth as told by true boxing fans around the world!

Are we listing fighters who retire other fighters as in..they beat them so bad they never fought again or are we just naming well known fighters last fight opponent?
                If so..this thread is ish.

Lewis retired after beating Vitaly, not because of him. And Briggs had already been a spent fossil for years.

                  Trevor Berbick retired Ali

                  Shannon Briggs retired George Foreman
                  Manny Paquaio retired Oscar Delahoya

You see the common theme here..... all got the beatdowns of there life except for Big George & decided to step down accordingly.... name some other greats who got retired after going against there last opponent?

Holmes gave the anchient Ali a far worse beating than Berbick, so your logic doesn't make sense. Foreman hardly caught a beating from Briggs and most thought he won. I guess I can agree on Pac-Oscar though.
