Comments Thread For: Sergio Martinez: Chavez Will Vacate, Hand Me His Belt

Despite the mandates from the WBC, Diamond champion Sergio Martinez and his adviser, Sampson Lewkowicz, do not expect a 2012 showdown with full middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (43-0, 30KOs). The Mexican champion will defend his title on November 19th against Peter Manfredo Jr. at the Reliant Arena in Houston, Texas. WBC President Jose Sulaiman has ordered the winner of Chavez-Manfredo to face Martinez by March of 2012.

Of course he shouldn't expect a fight with a little girl who cuts himself with a ceiling fan and calls off a fight. What a beach!!

Sergio, your father, Antonio Margarito, or as you call him - POPPA TONY - taught you that true "pound for pound 'PEOPLE'S CHAMPION'" step up and give the fans the fights they want to see. . . Or simply fight the best at your weight class. As his son, you need to fight Pirog, or be a man and fight the super middleweights. . . You were at 176 pounds after 6 weeks of training camp, my son. . . POPPA TONY is disappointed in you for forgetting the lessons he instilled in you when knocking your ass through the ropes!

Sulaiman did a big favor to Chavez JR by handing him the belt and letting him defend it a few times, but now I guess JR is gonna have to step up or vacate.

I'm surprised Sulaiman is forcing JR to vacate tho

of course he wont, sulaiman practically handed over the title to zbik and chavez jr then lets see martinez would beat chavez jr by late TKO, its amazing how many hypocrites and idiots are in boxing as well before the barker fight everyone was backing martinez and one bad night everyone thinks now he aint as good......boxing fans are so predictable at times its sad

you should get it right, Pirog was NEVER Martinez's mandatory. the WBO stripped Martinez and Pirog fought Jacobs for the WBO title.

2nd Martinez wanted to face Zbik but HBO rejected that fight so instead of losing out on his TV date he fought who HBO wanted him to fight.

                    hardly a duck.
